Nope, not unconcious - as noted above, I did kill the Countess of Leyawjjn - that said, it was after I completed the Thieves Guild quest involving her - maybe before you do it she is unkillable?

I just did Sanguine's quest where you had to cast a spell to remove the clothes of Leyawiin's countess and her guests. I was running out the castle and when I saw Mazoga the Orc I thought, "Mazoga! She has to help me!"
Lo and behold, she sees me running around in my skivvies, with some eight guards chasing me, and she draws her blade and bravely defends me as I make a break for the door. It's nice to know you have a friend who would do that without even asking you why you're stark naked.
Afterwards, I legged it over to the Barracks and stole myself a box and a pitiful three arrows, then ran for it. I was actually looking for a sword and a shield, but you know how hard those things are to find at midnight.

Anyway, while I've yet to figure out what the count's response (if any) will be, I'm now really curious about the AI. Is my game deciding what is happening to these people all over the world? Are they fighting monsters in far-off corners of the globe? What if I hadn't found Mothril? Do NPCs just randomly dissapear, wandering in the woods when you're not around, and you never know? Are they only activated when your in the area - and if so, why did I never see Mothril die?
i have heard that there are scripts running in the game making the NPC do things that they do even if u r not arround.. scripts to govern the progress of the quests.. scripts to control the wild beasts.. scripts to.. (remember matrix reloaded?)
anyways.. the point is, ur presence is not needed for the NPCs to keep doing the things that they are doing.. that includes getting killd in the forst by wild beasts!

Has anyone had the adoring fan who follows you around after the arena but seems to serve no purpose.
So far I have got mine killed a total of four times, including drowning, death by rabid vampire, death by falling off a cliff and the other one I can't remember.
However no sooner do I return to Arcane University to pick up a fresh mage apprentice (before his/her inevitable demise in my service), than my old friend the fan pops up his head once more.
Are they a succession of identical brothers, all fanatical about me and my prowess with a blade?

About the countess, I've also found her, and of course I volunteered myself to help protect her through the night. When her guard ran off to attack a wolf and apparently never returned (I assume he's still chasing it), I redoubled my efforts. But of course I soon got bored and raced ahead of her to reach the Inn Of Ill Omen. I had some... business there. I stayed there but a few minutes, taking care of my business, and when I came back out into the open, there was the countess, walking casually by... :weird:
Basically, I should have been far, far ahead of her, but I found her walking by me after stopping for one inn (and not resting there) so I'm thinking she must be set up specially somehow in the game

AFAIK, NPCs not loaded in nearby cells go on a different task list. They're more generic tasks, allowing you to play the game without bogging down your system with so much NPC task information.
I'm guessing when you entered the Inn, the Countess moved into the low-priority list and so moved faster than she otherwise would have.
Or she's just very fast.

It'll be that kind of thing, but it just shows that the Countess' journey isn't scripted as fully as it would seem. She definitely didn't just get there normally, as she had a white horse and I had a stolen black, plus you never see her horse gallop, it's always walking afaik.
