I've given my soul wholly and utterly to Tux for a number of reasons, but I find myself pining for Thief (II) and related fan missions. I've been tinkering with Thief and Wine for a few months, but no joy. I need help. All I get is a blank, sky-blue screen no matter what I try. A few stats to begin with:
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
Wine 1.1.39
DDFIX v1.3.11b
Just tell me what more you need to know, and I'll fetch it.
EDIT: Perhaps this request belongs in the "Technical & Troubleshooting Arena" which I have only just noticed, although it looks like it will get far more attention here.

One very important piece of the puzzle is the graphics card and it's drivers. What card do you have, and do you have the 3D drivers installed?
As for Thief and Wine, it works just fine on my PC (Mandriva 2010, 9600GT, nvidia 190.42, wine 1.1.40, DDFix 1.4.4_beta).
The only real problems are when skipping (Esc) the videos, the video freezes while audio continues for a bit, but it eventually will skip, and in your desktop keyboard settings, disable "keyboard repeat" or you won't be able to mantle.
