me and my buddy play co-op lan every week, and we finally got around to ss2.
anyway, if I could get some sage advice from the veterans on character creation I'd very much appreciate it.
just some general tips and whatever about various skills, what sucks and what's great, etc, would be fantastic.
I actually dug into this a little several months ago when we almost started playing, so I'm somewhat familiar w/it and have been through the tutorial, but have pretty much forgotten whatever character generation strategies I managed to pick up.
I'll go check out that other board on strange bedfellows and peruse the manual while you guys get your thoughts together.
oh, and if your only advice for me is to play any way I want to, DON'T POST IN MY THREAD, PLZ.
thx in advance.

Um, OK.
YOU WILL PICK MARINES. YOU WILL CHOSE THE FIRST DOOR IN THE FIRST YEAR, THEN THE THIRD DOOR IN THE SECOND YEAR. TURN LEFT AND MARVEL AT THE MACERENA-BOT. DON'T FORGET TO COME BACK AND POST. THEN PICK THE SECOND DOOR.

Eom, such advices have been given so many times. Can't just look up an old thread and see the suggestions there?

TTLG as welcoming to new posters as ever I see.
As Bjossi said, lots of old threads are about...but you do run the risk of spoliers. Kolya's link to the newbie guide is def a good spolier-free read with some useful tips.
Aside from that, you can afford to get things a bit wrong when it's multiplayer. The obvious reason for this is that you can do stuff like have one of you specialise in hacking and the other in maint. The less obvious reason is that the game is locked to hard mode (not impossible) in multiplayer, so you'll have a few more cyber modules to play with than most of the people here are used to.
A good fun way to do things that'll allow you both a lot of scope would be for one person to go navy/hack and the other to go psi. The two compliment each other quite nicely.
You might want to check out Kolya's site and find the ADOAB mod in addition to the ones of SHTUP and Rebirth:Complimented Edition.

These All-Star-Wars-in-One-Night-Sessions have got to stop, ZB. Sometimes I feel you're not even the same person anymore... :(

I kept asking myself why this thread felt so familiar. This is from June last year:

hey -- just starting ss2 pretty soon and I could use the aforementioned character generation tips.
thx
ps
if your advice is just to play it any way I want, plz don't spam up my thread.
thx again.
I wish you and your buddy an enjoyable, scary experience. For the most fun, try splitting the party, and wear headphones. Teamspeak/Ventrilo optional.
