I don't expect him to return to the thread (or even TTLG), for some reason. :erm:

Maybe he's having some tea and a biscuit?

I’m still here… listen I don’t succumb to the psychological game playing demonstrated in the last few post… It’s not I who wants or needs a user-friendly editor… I can have it, if I desire it!… if you guys continue on with your incipient childish behavior, you won’t know anything about it, period!!
I have a few calls into EDIOS and a waiting for a reply… but I have decided that I will carry on despite the negative and when finished, someone with the means to distributed it will be contacted or I will create a torrent and go that route… either way I figure that EDIOS is on it’s way out ;) and the legalities will be pretty much meaningless.
Oh one other thing, I was thinking about incorporating a P2P connectivity between the users for file sharing and distributing FM’s, and even for group level designing.

Or trying to find some more convincing computer-related buzzwords.
Mentioning a compiler like it's some big deal is
so 1980s.

Well, you must admit that if you were in our position..you would be a little skeptical as well. :) We have ex Ion devs who post here frequently and they think it highly unlikely that you could have gained access to the source code legally. If you did, all the power to you but as a community...we've been burned by such promises before. I would welcome such an improvement to the existing editor but it's not our only alternative. DarkMod, while not part of the official lore, will allow people to create some damned Thiefy goodness. It's only logical that we would look upon this with a squirelly eye.

Also, if you look at his posting history, he doesn't seem like a troll - but he does make several references to source code and claims he can see the complete engine code of Far Cry using the "tools he has".
I think he's got himself a hex editor or disassembler, and thinks that gives him the ability to completely redesign the game.
Good luck, mate. Be sure to let us know in 2050 when you're done.

... ...
Is there any way to call time on all this? I know I had a go too, but this is getting seriously lame.
Vile - If you can fix some of the stuff for us, please do. If you think it's not worth the hassle/time, can we at least get the file format specifications to those who will make the importer/exporters we'd like?
I know it's already been asked, but I don't want it as proof or anything like that, just one way or the other I'd like to be better able to create the type of missions I want to.
Please?
And Truce? Everyone?

I agree. I'm always willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt but lets see something of it, other than flame wars.

handed to you by....who? ohnowate revealing your
secret sources(c) surely would compromise their personal safety, right?
And I hope you considered contacting Epic games, who aren't going under and whose code forms the backbone of the T3 code, right?
