Hmmm, would releasing a patch to correct/ add things to the existing game constitute as a copyright infringement? I mean...this would mean a LOT to the community. We've been begging for the dark engine source code for years. This would at least allow people to bring T3ed up to spec on many ends.

Guys...let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
This is from the same Vile_T3 who claimed that 'sources in the industry' told him that the engine modifications to the Unreal engine were done by Epic on behalf of Ion Storm, a claim that has been proved incorrect, and over which there was no doubt as to its invalidity.

I honestly expect that he's just a silly troll looking for attention. If he actually releases something useful, I'll apologize. In the mean time, it just sounds to me like someone screaming "NO SERIOUSLY GUYS I HAVE THE SOURCE CODE AND IT IS BAD AND STUPID BUT I CAN DO BETTER BECAUSE I AM AWESOMEx1000. I'M NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT, THOUGH. I JUST THOUGHT I'D TELL YOU THAT I'M AWESOME."
If I'm wrong I'll eat my tasty, tasty hat, and he'll get a nice apology.

I wouldn't have broadcast that I had the source code in public...*LOL*. I would have quietly leaked it. Sure would avoid a lot of hassle...once it's out...it's out.
Bingo. ;)
Although, this way, no one has to prove they have anything which they don't have.

Come on guys, don't believe the troll...you can tell by the way he talks that he has no clue what he's talking about.
He said he doesn't have time to mess with the "bits/bytes"...if he has the source code then he wouldn't have to touch any "bits/bytes".
He says he's had experience debugging and with "compiler"...what's that supposed to mean? Which compiler? C? C++? If anything, I'd say Basic...
He also started out by saying he's seen the source code, and then the lie grew and he said he has the source code.
Not only that, has anyone heard of getting the source code to a game you have no relationship to other than working in the same industry? That would be like someone working at Symantec having the source code to McAfee AntiVirus...makes no sense.
And to claim that he could make an editor that would make it so anyone could make "HIGH QUALITY" content...come on...
Sorry I gave this troll another place to dis the developers. I never meant to start this kind of useless thread...could a mod close it? Please?

If he had worked for Epic, it'd be conceivable that he'd have seen the source. The fact that he's on record saying that Epic modified the engine for Ion indicates that he has no idea what Epic actually did. His ignorance about Epic's role is a good indicator that he doesn't work for them.
He's saying he could easily put out a new editor of his own, something that would take months of coding and testing. I don't think he has any idea how much work is involved with some of the things he's talking about, or how they're actually done.
There's always the question of why he'd swipe a copy of the source for a game he clearly despises, too.

I've got some wheels turning over at the Eidos forums. We should have some contact information soon. Better not be yanking our chains vile. :)

I'm pretty sure the only legal copies of the source code are sitting on a hard drive somewhere at Eidos. It's not like we just sent the source code out to everyone willy nilly. The only people I can even conceive of possibly having it would be Havok, and if they did it would probably be an old version and only a section that relates to physics and not the entire source. So where did you say you work, Vile_T3? Unless you work at Eidos or one of the very few companies we worked with directly (like Havok) then there is no way you have the source. If you do, you obtained it through some illegal means. Care to clear this up for us?

If you do work for AutoDesk as a programmer, Vile, then I (partly) apologise. I have heard of AutoDesk, and from what I hear their programs are complicated and quite well made; though by all accounts games are more difficult to produce than CAD software (AutoCAD doesn't have to deal with sound, managing levels and art assets, and gameplay; and speed, while still important is less of an issue. So there's more time to spend on programming the rendering than there is with a game).
On the other hand, if you're lying about the source code and your bluff has just been called, then I must warn you that I will have no choice but to laugh at you. Long, and loudly. ;)

Well, Krypt, if it isn't all hot air I'll be quite shocked. He's clearly taking the piss.
