Unless you like editing compiler-generated assembly code by hand. :D (Believe me, it's not fun!)
Vile_T3 - Editors for games are always buggy. It's, like, traditional. ;)
Besides, we should be happy that we got it at all! Okay, the cake doesn't have a cherry on top, but at least we got the cake, right?
And I'm sorry to be harsh, but I really don't like your derogatory comments about the Ion Storm developers. Ever tried programming a game? I mean an actual commercial-quality game with a large team to manage, multiple platforms to develop for, and using a complicated game engine that wasn't originally yours and that you had to pull apart and half-rewrite (including the incredibly complex renderer) so that it worked for your game? Nope? Didn't think so.
I write (mostly 2D) games as a hobby, and it's hard enough without dealing with the third dimension, having advanced technology to work with, and having to coordinate your efforts with an army of artists and designers. I respect anyone who manages to get a game out of the door under those conditions, particularly one as good as TDS. (Or any of the Thief games, for that matter.)
... Okay, I'm done. :)
Matter of fact I presently and still do work with a team of programmers, designing commercial quality games/development software... debugging, and have worked with compiler... not difficult at all... if you go back and read some, you will see that I state I worked for Auto Desk for several years... you may not be aware of the complexity of some of the software that they produced.
If you recall I was the one that predicted the fall of IS way before Warren Specter had a clue... made several post on the IS forum under the user name "viletoad"... some may recall if you don't!… If I wasn't in the business, how do you think I had access to pertinent information as well as have access to the DS source code!
I have the DS/editor
source code on my HD as we speak!... tell you what you get me authorization from the big wigs @ EDIOS, and I will produce you (all) an editor that any... I repeat that any user, whether novice or expert level designer to produce HIGH quality levels, edit/create 3D objects, models, skins, animations, to share with their community... and I will do it with no other assistance, except a bloody cup of tea and a biscuit!!

As do I.
I'll get in touch with Grey Mouser over at the Eidos forums. He'll point us in the right direction. I'm hoping you're serious about this Vile_T3, this is something the fans would love to see.
Left a message for Grey Mouser at Eidos. Hope we hear back from him soon.

I DEMAND PROOF!
Howdid you get it anyway? Decompiling?

Well, I wouldn't say we're in a position to demand anything. Lets just put the word out to any contacts we have and get wheels turning, if this is serious...we will find out one way or another soon enough. Personally, I wouldn't have broadcast that I had the source code in public...*LOL*. I would have quietly leaked it. Sure would avoid a lot of hassle...once it's out...it's out.

It just seems highly unlikely, and I agree with what you would do.
To be honest I'd be more excited about Dark Engine source codes.

How about releasing the format specification for the TIM model files that Shadowspawn is working on?
File formats cannot be copyrighted, so there is no legal issue here, and this would demonstrate that you have what you say you have.

Vile_T3, in order to make us happy you propably wouldn't need to rewrite the whole T3Ed code. Finding a way to add swimmable water and rope arrows to the editor will certainly allow you to take place in TTLG Hall of Fame. Can you do it? Can you at least point our efforts in the right direction? :p
Seriously... well.. hmmm... Vile_T3, are you serious? :wot:

That would be an excellent test. It wouldn't require too much work on his end, and it would prove he isn't just a lying braggart out for attention. It'd be very useful for the community, and much appreciated.

Not quite sure what to make of Vile_T3 at present.
Let's let it wait until he comes up with something.
:weird:
