I've realized that a lot of people talk about their characters as if they... had some mind of their own. They talk about morals (not killing, stealing, etc.) So, when you really think about it, do you like to... make your character real? Do you really follow rules inside the game? Are you a nice guy, a robin hood, or a villain?
My character is a full-time adventurer and, yes, a murderer. I have dreams of destroying every town within Morrowind and killing all of it's inhabitants one day. However, I'm mostly concerned about money. Human lives (within the game) mean nothing to me. I will as soon as kill a simple merchant as Dagoth Ur. But some things do have certain sentimental values. I have the sword Umbra and though I have many better swords, I love this. And I take a liking to the occasional Wild Guars, so no matter how bloodthirsty I'm feeling, I leave them alone. I'm a barbarian; I kill and steal. Sneaking isn't my thing, I like to fight as many enemies at possible. My character has become a juggernaut, unstoppable by any person within Morrowind. He has weilded both Sunder and Keening without the safety of the wraithguard because it was among the only things powerful enough to kill him, and yet they too were no match. He has taken on Vivec and won with ease, slaughtering Indoril(sp?) guards on the way out. And yet, he lets some Wild Guars live.
Weird, huh? That's Ryushi for ya. Why is it people hold onto things for their sentimental value in a game that isn't real? Why do we set morals? You can kill some innocent person, get away and pay your bounty, and you're fine. It's as if we are trying to recreate reality while getting away from it at the same time.

My whole roleplay objective in MW was simply to become 'All that I could be.'
While doing this in MW's game setup proved easy, the paths of other role playing, IE: the thief, mage, and such, seemed equally fruitfull, if I wanted to continue to extract further enjoyment out of the game.
However, this wasn't the case, so I choose the other path of talking about how great I am instead.
My roleplay perogative in most online role playing games can be sumed up in two words, 'Ale and Whores'. I also have a fond thirst for fighting in it. I play a barbarian warrior who doesn't use magic, usually.
I also enjoy being a soldier in an army. Whether it be killing dragons in Everquest, or sieging in Shadowbane, something about being rank-and-file for a greater purpose appeals to me. Besides, I hate making decisions about stuff, and I'd rather other people make them for me.
Obviously in a single player game like morrowind, one is up to himself or herself in terms of the paths they may take, and all are equally good, if they are enjoyable for those who take them.
Oh wait, you all suck and I own you.

I keep meaning to be ruthless and amoral, but my true nature (a fluffy, if sometimes misunderstood, pussycat) seems to prevail. I free slaves, I feel awful if I have to kill someone who hasn't attacked me first, I don't steal from shops...
However, I do intend to play a Telvanni character, and I want to try to roleplay this against (my) type. And I also started a game wherein my character is a thief and will be an assassin, too. I'll just finish with my nice character first. She is pretty damn lethal, actually, especially since I enchanted a Daedric shield with constant restore health.

I like the complete freedom--being able to do whatever I want, but I don't like killing people because they're much more interesting alive, even the ones that I don't like. There's always the chance that a seemingly unimportant character will have a role to play later. On the otherhand if they attack me first I quite enjoy killing them. They don't know who they're messing with.
I tried an assasin character for a while, but he still had a strict sense of honor--being in the Morag Tong and the Temple. He has kinda dull though.
And I don't like to kill guars either; they're rather cute in a stupid kind of way.
I like playing a thief though, as I'm sure many do. I don't have any problem with stealing other peoples' stuff. I get satisfaction when I steal something and the owner, being completly clueless, still likes me.

Ha, gotta love the Guars. I have the same problem as Ania in that I try and be more evil than I really am. But once Bloodmoon comes out, I'm becoming a werewolf. And then things are going to get interesting...

Guars make cute purring noises, they sound like kittys, :D.

Wether it's in Morrowind or any other game my own personality seems to start showing in my character. I usually don't kill anyone unless they piss me off or show they deserve it in some other way, I am a bit of a klepto though but that's just because most of the time it's just too easy and there's just so much stuff to be had. :ebil:
I had to steal some diamonds for my first job in the Thieves Guild and ever since then I can't sell the Whitehaven woman in Balmora ANY diamonds because she'll think they are hers. :tsktsk:
Guars are kinda cute in a dumb animal sorta way but if one messes with me I have no problem turning it into a pair of boots. My Nord fighter would love to get his hands on Divath Fyr's (sp?) Daedric suit of armor but I can't bring myself to kill the guy because he's pretty decent. Maybe I'll try becoming a vampire sometime and just be totally evil for once.
sneeksie on 6/4/2003 at 21:49
I tried being a vampire for a while. It sucked big time. The other vampires hated me so much they wouldn't sell and buy with me. They were so damned ugly too, it was a pained to look at them. And I couldn't deal with that sunlight-fries-your-flesh thing at all.
Now I just kill vampires and take their stuff. :ebil:

My current character Alazalar, is bit of a wierd character. He loved power, and he loved owning that power. He started stealing, it progressed to assassination, and eventually Vampirism. Annassi showed him though, love is truely the one and only power. He cured himself of his vampirism, and took a more faithful life towards the gods. Espcially Sheogorath. He also joined with the Telvanni mainly to find a way to cleanse them of their usual methods.
His gear comes from many places, some from the old days when he was an assassin. (Black Hands Dagger). Some found with in Shrines(Skull Crusher). And some from his worship (Ebony Mail).
He turned out well, and plans on taking the trip to visit Almalexia sometime soon.
RyushiBlade on 6/4/2003 at 23:37
Well... Ryushi hasn't exactly gone through the 'cleansing' thing yet... But after starting a new life on my PC he's a lot better. Granted, he just wiped out a plantation, but he freed the slaves and didn't kill them. Hopefully he can go see Almalexia too... and try and throw the Tribunal storyline askew. If I can kill Almalexia, what's the point of going through the story anyway? Just means more adventuring for me.
... You do kill Almalexia, right? And he's more powerful than Dagoth Ur... ? And Vivec?
