I've been playing o-deus ex again with the shifter mod, I just landed in ocean lab and I really don't wanna play that level. It's a ton of small corridors within a large area vs. the usual huge interior huge exterior. I hate it! Though I really like the central california level (has that post-apocalyptic vibe), which is the one before ;)
Is there a level in DSX you don't like?

All of the Paris missions that aren't based in someone's home.

Sometime when I got back to New York there seemed to always be a bug that guards could always see me regardless of where I hide. They are always approching to me.
Since I prefer the stealth way this is the level I dislike.

:insert obligatory 'the last level sucked' comment here:
I dislike the catacombs because it's really hard to play that level using stealth. The hostage rescue inevitably descends into a fire-fight. Chateau DuClare is pretty boring after the first time through.
And first prize goes to the Missile Silo, because it's an unwanted diversion just when the game is building to a climax.

Pretty much all of paris except the cathedral. The last level (although interesting) was abit naff too.

But the Ocean lab is the best level!
For some reason I always lose interest on each play through in the Naval Base, therefore must be the worst.

Ocean Lab, definitely the worst. It just feels half-finished. Apparently it was intended as a System Shock homage, and there are some references to an insane AI, but you never actually encounter this AI, and the only enemies (until you start backtracking) are animals and bots, and there's lots of cut-and-paste map design. The whole thing just ends up feeling like a gigantic sewer level.

I think it was an Illuminati virus released by a debatably-sane Illuminati infiltrator into the Ocean Lab.
I disliked the small, stop off levels, most notably Dowd's Cemetary - these seemed to be a waste of potential. Perhaps a better example is the T. Savage rescue scene - it only had one real method of approach, and after playing the Bank sidequest in Redsun 2020, I have seen how much better these small objectives can be handled. I found Deus Ex did an adequate job of fooling the player into believing that the envoronments are more detailed than they appear, but Redsun had so much more incidental charm to it.

Now the Gas Station, that's one of my favorites. Probably because I can load up the save game and finish it in less than 15 minutes. Makes for a nice quick DX fix.
There's a surprising amount of detail packed into that little map. You can crawl around the garage roof and rafters, loot the crashed van, bust into that maintenance shack, and approach the hostage around the back, the front, or drop in from above. Heck, it took me until the fourth or fifth playthrough to discover the cache inside that tanker truck!
Even without all that it would still be worth it just for bumping into Sandra Renton again. It was one of those little details that helped tie DX's world together into a cohesive whole. Sandra didn't just vanish into thin air when she walked out on her father, she was out there in the world, doing her thing.
