I'm also stuck in dwarf level,I've run the map over and over again trying to find the elevator your supposed to take.Their is one door I haven't opened which is at the place of the great beast which breaks through the wall. straight ahead and to the left is the only door that won't open.I've rechecked for any other keys but haven't found any more.Is this the place of the elevator?Theirs supposed to be some planks you have to jump across,and collect a metal to put in some lazer.Anyway any help for this old dog would be appreciated.Thanks

Nevermind, once you managed the jump, you must have enough space in your inventory to grab the ribs, the power crystal(s) from the corpse on the dead end to the left and lastly and the most important grab the book and the key, after you get the key or grab anything from the corpse you might hear a strong noise, this is your heads up to run like a madman to the metal door use the newly found key and keep running, use the power crystals on the machine to the left, drop the ribs under the compactor, and run up the ladder to activate the lever meanwhile the black beast is running after you, or just run to the right pull a lever to the right section of the room, and run back to the metal grate with lava underneath and pull the lever, run around the hole to avoid falling in and await for the monster to finally die in the lava.

For some reason sometimes the compactor won't stun the beast enough time to go to the other room and pull the lever in the room to the right, so sometimes is better to run at full speed ahead, and remember do not waste time with spells in here as they won't work.

After the beast is dead you can go exploring some more, and do not miss the keys or the power crystals scattered around. In case you don't have enough power crystals highlight down here with your mouse or skip the next reading.

Funny I don't recall any elevator down there, you must be referring to the stone teleporters, anyway if you're in a hurry and cannot be bothered to find some power crystals, you can drag the mitril stone all the way up the ladder with you.

In here you can, opt for either kill the dragon, go back to the castle and go to the snake lady library (if is not in the castle keep looking for a book about races of arx if I recall correctly at the snake ladies base in the 6th level, I hope you did activated those portals back when you could do it) for a book about dragons or just take it yourself.

I recommend saving and loading a savegame near to the castle instead of repeating all over again, but if you're a bit like me, you'll take down the ice column with some magic missile or a fireball, in order to enable your way back to the dragon, and either take that book or kill the dragon which is a bit hard to kill since he is an ice dragon he will try to freeze you when you take his eggs with a telekinesis spell (look at your diary book or load a spell scroll, you can buy spells at Maria's shop in the city of arx and at the 5th level with the shop brothers), and the ice at the dragon's cave exit won't melt until he is dead.

Try fireballs, magic missiles, paralysis whatever you can throw at him, and preload it with shift+control when hand drawing magic spells or hit enter on a scroll to prepare the magic attack, up to 3 spells can be preloaded this way.
Keep your distance from him anyway.

If you really are in trouble with killing the dragon come back and I'll try to search something more specific for the task.
