I can't get into Cyberspace 2A. When I enter I immediately see 2 cyberdogs. Automatically my drift is toward what appears to be the entrance point. Before that I collide with a brown, rectangular object, with 3 squares; after which a message flashes "no new access gained". I avoid the 2 cyberdogs, collide with a purple data cube and enter the passageway. At the end of the passageway it is guarded by 5 red triangles in a circle. I avoid them and now I'm blocked from going any farther. As I'm trying to get beyond, up flashes "partition". If I get too close to the 5 triangles I'm booted out of Cyberspace. I can see other areas of Cyberspace but can't get to them. In addition, even if I don't collide with the brown, rectangular object, I'm still blocked from going farther. Then I tried to access the passageway at the other end of the starting point but I can't get into it. I'm stuck and don't know what to do next at this point. Please, will someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I missed, so I can retrieve the items in this Cyberspace 2A and then go onto Cyberspace 2B? Thank you. pukey

Man, I never had this much difficulty comprehending SS1's cyberspace.
The other areas that you can see past the room you're in are accessed with other cyberspace terminals. For instance, in one of the cyberjacks in the Executive level you can look outwards and see areas of cyberspace reachable in level 7 or 8. Unless you can see a passageway leading out of the room, you can assume that there is no way to get to those areas with the cyberjack you're currently plugged into.
Basically all of cyberspace is put in the same 3D area but each area is isolated from the others.
Also, take some time to get familiar with the 3D objects, so that you're no longer confused when a group of 5 triangles kicks you out of c-space.

Hint: the triangles 'guarding' the place are actually an exit out of cyberspace. No wonder you get kicked out everytime you get close to them...
Trance's explanation says it all, really. Just because you see other rooms in the distance, doesn't mean that you actually have access to them. Level 2 has two cyberjacks (relatively close to each other), and each of them will give you access to a different zone in cyberspace.
And please, don't come here asking for help to get beyond that red forcefield in Level 2, with the mutants behind it. There's nothing you can do to open it. Someone else will open it for you much later in the game ;)

Trance, thank you. I understand about the other cyberjacks being separate and distinct from the others and unreachable from the one I'm in. Please take a look at my response to D'Arcy, which will explain my dilemma. pukey

D'Arcy your comments and advice are appreciated. The reason I'm confused are the comments in the Bernie Yee Strategy Guide. According to it I'm supposed to pick up a Level 2 data log and SCI - Access while in Level 2A cyberspace. So, if I can't get beyond the 5 red triangles which is the exit (I apologize for not knowing that) why does Yee's Guide talk about securing items from this particular cyberjack? Are the purple cube and rectangular, brown object the Level 2 Date Log and SCI - Access I'm seeking after all and there is no further reason to stay in this cyberjack?
Finally, what do you mean when you say "don't come here asking for help to get beyond that red forcefield in Level 2, with the mutants behind it, etc." ? I've re-read my message and don't see where I asked about the "red forcefield in Level 2", with mutants behind it,"etc. Please pardon my ignorance, I'm just trying to be sure that I fully understand the comments in your and Trance's advice. Your response will be most helpful. Thank you. pukey

That's exactly it. "No new accesses gained" means you've obtained SCI access previously and the brown object is redundant, and if the guide mentions a data object, well then that's the purple cube.
D'Arcy's comment about the mutants is probably a question asked frequently in Hints and Spoilers.

Most likely you got that SCI access from one of the Cyborg Drones you had to kill in order to get to that cyberjack. One of them has actually two SCI access cards (they're yellow), so if you searched and looted its body after killing it, you got the access even before getting into cyberspace. And yes, the purple cube is indeed the Data Log left by Rebecca, and the rectangular, brown object is the access authorisation.
My other comment was in fact made because some people tend to make that question, and I just remembered it because that force field is very close to that cyberjack.

Thanks D'Arcy: You put my concern to rest and now I can move on. You, Trance and others on this Forum are very kind with the assistance rendered to people like me. pukey
