I tried Chrome on its first release and whilst its minimal approach and the tabs as process thing were nice I found it to be really buggy. It wouldn't connect for no reason, slowed, crashed.
I use gmail and the google calendar synced to my Blackberry and I've been looking at the new Google/Android mobile phones. I might go for the Hero when it arrives if this Sense GUI is any good. It sounds good: (

The other thing is if the phone and the Android OS are any good I'll consider making an app for work.
Anyways, I use Firefox atm (why do these browsers not come with mouse gestures out of the box?) and was finding it a little slow with some add-ons. Got v3.5 and its back to speed again. I was thinking that if I get an Android phone I might as well just use Chrome and be all googled up. FF works well though and I just DLed Chrome again to see if there is any point.
What do people think about the Google apps, Chrome, Android and so on?

I'm using Chrome...again, and my experience with it is definitely a love it/hate it affair. I love the clean, uncluttered look, the ease of use, and of course, the speed. The thing flies. It's also been a bug free experience. Haven't had any crashes or other odd problems arise since I've started using 2.x and 3.x.
Now what do I hate about it? I think Google might've gone a bit too far and made it a little too minimal. I don't have options to change things you'd consider standard tweaks in other browsers. You have no choice as far basic layout or other customization bits goes. And the download manager? Oh, it absolutely blows. If I forget I'm downloading something and close the browser, that's just tough shit for me. It's gone. No warnings or anything.
Besides the speed, I really have no idea why I keep coming back to it. Maybe it's the clean interface that blends in well with my desktop. I'm a sucker for aesthetics, stupid as is it. Beyond that, I find the good aspects of the browser to be equally weighed against the bad.

How do you find the add-ons? As plentiful and useful as for FF? And that download thing - it there an add-on to fix that? Seems like an obvious thing to do/have in an update.

Nowhere near as plentiful. Beyond Greasemetal, the Chrome equivalent to Greasemonkey, I haven't found anything worth mentioning. Most of the addons I've seen consist of simple color scheme changes, and...er...yeah, that's about it.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing alot more addons in the near future. But for now, the pickings are so slim they're almost nonexistent.

I don't trust google not to abuse my personal data, they are as bad as Microsoft. So I'm afraid chrome, android etc are all none starters.

Hi Sub, its common sense. Who in their right mind would you trust a big corporation with personal private information and for them not the abuse that trust. There have been more than enough examples over the years...
