Hoo-haa.
Our post generally arrives at 2-3pm but we're on the wrong end of one of the rural routes. Never had a problem with Track and Trace or recorded delivery though (yet).

Why IS the British postal system so much worse? I mean, it's not like mail theft is unknown in the USA (it's generally advised to not send actually CASH by mail) but it's rare enough that I've never heard of it happening to anyone I know. And things are consistently speedy, and they don't drop packages willy nilly.
Good news: My theatre tickets arrived this morning.
24 days after I ordered them from a place a mile away.
Seriously.
Oh, and I didn't get to see Cold Souls, because the transportation system royally fucked up and delivered me to my location 50 minutes later than it was supposed to. :(

That's... completely at odds from what I've heard about US package deliveries to be honest. Lots of stories about packages left at doors or undelivered.

Maybe it just depends on the locality, then? Perhaps Seattle/Whidbey Island/Amherst, MA is just awesome.

Our postal system is wonderful! It's bad enough to be able to say 'But I posted that cheque weeks ago!!!' But good enough to post a birthday card at 5.45 pm in Sheffield and have it arrive (in time thank god) the next morning in Reading. Posting a card on the same day from London took 3 days to arrive.
Our business post has been marvellous since I emailed a map to our local delivery office with large red arrows showing where we were and where our letter box was. And showing where every other sodding company was as well, means I no longer get their post!
You're casting aspersions on all the best excuses for something not happening that we have.
(My smilies aren't working, nor font size, nor colour, nor nothing.)

I haven't posted a gods-honest letter through the mail for ages.
Thats what email is for...

I would like to respond, but I honestly can't parse this sentence.

Damn! I knew it needed some smilies. :)

So here's a SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY for some TTLGer.
I have two tickets to attend a special screening of An American Werewolf in London (specifically, Union Chapel in Islington) on Wednesday the 28th at 6:30 PM (though one should be there by 6:00 to ensure a spot). I don't have anyone to go with, so the first TTLGer who wants to go and can attend is welcome to join me! Details:
The Chapel will be transformed into the misty moorland of the films opening scenes, you will be led up to the Slaughtered Lamb pub where locals will whisper warnings about dark things on the moors, before you are called to the screening itself. Beware the howling and stay on the road.
The evening will start at 6.30pm - 7pm with complimentary Jameson drinks.

Tempting. But I have a date on Wednesday night.
Thanks for the offer though!
Speaking of a London TTLG meet for those of us living here...who actually lives here?
Avatar Imax tickets are out this week arent they? They will be purchased...
