So, UK people, something I've been trying to figure out: what are the best movie theatres in London?
By this I do not mean "what has the best film selection" (though that would be nice info too!) but "for a given film in wide release, what is the best place to see it?" I've just figured out that while the UK gets most things ridiculously late (why you folks get A Serious Man two months after the USA is beyond me), you're actually getting Fantastic Mr. Fox a solid month before the USA and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus an incredible 2.5 months before the USA (which will only have it in a limited release).
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I personally like the Vue cinemas. Best one I've been to is at the 02 in Greenwich. There's one close to my flat up on Finchley Road which is decent too.
Avoid Odeon. Especially the con-job thats in Leicester Square. Cost me £16 to go see Casino Royale there. Wasn't even a good seat!
Infact, avoid anything in Leicester Square and you're pretty much sorted...

Poo, that's where almost all the London Film Festival films are...at least two of the five things I'm seeing aren't there (one at ICA, one at National Film Theatre).
It's nice to know that they're not all that crazy expensive! I sure as hell wasn't going to pay 12 pounds (almost $19.50 at the time I was buying) for a ticket! Thankfully student tickets at 6 pounds, which is much better.
National Film Theatre does look nice, though also a bit pricey.

Except that one
Massive screen in the Trocadero. Saw The Matrix there at an 11.30pm show. The screen was packed, we sat at the side (crappy seats) but it didn't matter - the screen was so big it was great.

I'll admit, I've never been into the Trocadero - always strikes me as a tacky scene that I would never emerge alive from.
There's a really cool wee cinema on Baker Street actually that shows more Arthouse films. Good for a Saturday night when there's nothing else happening and you want to space out for a while. Got pretty good comfy seats aswell.

Yeah, but if you don't go to leceister square you can't go to the Prince Charles. And that's the best cinema in London. You can get booze, they play a great mix of new, classic and unusual, and it's cheap. And you can have a beer while you watch stuff

Yeah fonz, the Prince Charles. Where else can you go for a Sound of Music Sing-a-long, eh? EH?
Plus they do play all sorts you never get at the cinema. It's a pretty cool place all in all.
But if you just want straight cinema for new releases etc then Vue or Cineworld. Odeon has gone right downhill, but at least they play a few things that don't get to other big chains. And you can get the Orange Wednesday there.

Prince Charles looks very nice. Will definitely check that out. Thanks much!

I can't believe you're in London and don't know many people and haven't met up with any TTLGers yet. If you'd come to my city I'd have hunted you down by now and shown you the places to go. Shame on you fonz.
