Even if it's not an outright majority, it's certainly a (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76292) huge minority. If you also include those fans who think it's distinctly average, then it looks pretty damning.

You know, Chewbacca doesn't actually live on Endor.
(Nor does the fact that many people are disappointed back up the delusion that DX:IW is a simplistic run and gun shooter.)

Sadly the Games Industry is still far from an entirely Consumer Driven Market, most Publishers, and through their sadly immutable relationship Developers, are still focused on making a Product and then marketing it. They are operating in a Product Orientated Environment, with that mind set of "If we make it and market it, they will surely come." Is that the right way, to go? Probably not but that's the way it is.
I still believe Devs don't owe the hardcore fans anything, not I believe they don't not that they shouldn't. I usually forget to indicate that and so get flamed, lol. Devs have to make money to survive and making money means doing what the Publisher asks, and that means making a product that the Publisher can market regardless of whether it's exactly what the fans want or not. It sux but it's the way it is.
As for the original topic of this thread. The reason I believe that asking for DX but prettier is bad is because that's exactly the kind of thing most PC Gamers will generally find to complain about Console games and Console Sequels. "Well it's just the same game but bigger\prettier\with more breasts" (OK So I' probably buy the latter but I'm weak).
I mean would System Shock 2 have been as good a game if it had merely been System Shock 1 with prettier graphics? Ok bad example, since it probably would have. I guess my point is without evolution we get stagnation, we get the same concepts repeated ad nauseam. Sure it might be fun twice but eventually it'll get tirying and downright offensive. I mean take the Tomb Raider series, two great games and the rest were derogrative trash.
I feel it's better to evolve concepts and ideas with a sequel that it is to wait until that gameplay gets stale before deciding to change it. The downside is you can often make the wrong decisions.

There. Better.:)
As far as I know, only a few journalists and the DXIW dev team have played the game so far.

For most of us the distinction between full game and demo is irrelevant, because what we're dissatisfied with is fully represented in the demo. EG-- Movement, physics, ammo management, inventory, interface, HUD, etc.

I hate to say this:How much do I need to spend to play a game in PC and how much in
XBox or GameCube?I don't like upgrade my OS niether my computer but "THEY" push me all the time.Why?..I don't know the answer for this market's conspiracies but I got
my games and my free will to do in this matter what I want. For the moment Dex its a

Well, if you use a machine that is obsolete when you buy it :p then you can't complain. Consoles are much cooler since they allow you to play games made several years after release without having to *upgrade*. Probably cheaper (and less hassle) in many cases to get an X-box than to upgrade mem motherboard and graphics cards.

Gaming is one of the highest (if not the highest) growth industry right now. It's quite possible that the revenue generated by PC and console games dwarfs the cash generated by the movie industry. Certainly in terms of net profit, it does.
But, as all other facets of the entertainment (and fashion: the two are becoming nightmarishly intertwined) industry, it's a case of "Let's tell people what they want, and when they buy it we'll know it's popular and so we can flood the consumers with clones and close versions until the technology advances to where we can make something new or we supersaturate the market."
And yes, it's because developers aren't publishers and because publishers (in general) are far closer to being pure investors than stakeholders (if those are the right words).
A publisher can stick its name on a hundred products a year, and as long as only 8 or 10 of them "make it" they're still cutting a profit. Which is good in a few ways: It means that something like Eidos is going to be flush with cash regardless of taking some chances on first-time, unproven, or otherwise radical developers / ideas. It also means, unfortunately, that they are quick to greenlight a safe and derivative product in order to keep that cash rolling in.
Biggest problems right now are twofold: The nVidia vs ATI war which is threatening to split gamers and gaming along proprietory lines, and the console + PC paradigm which both devs and publishers believe expands their target audience as well as kills two birds with one stone (in other words, twice as much product for a marginally higher investment).
Um.
Ghey, I went off the rails again.
I had a point when I came in here, I swear I did.

I have to wonder how long that situation will last though. I mean look at Televison Broadcasters, they were desperate for Reality TV shows and the like that would get them huge audiences but now they are losing them again and need to find something new.
I wonder how long it'll be beofre Publishers realise the reason they even have an industry that's making so much money is because we (consumers) want to buy games that are fun and not derogative. Ok maybe I'm just insanely optimisitic.
The nVidia vs ATi thing seems to have calmed down now, since nowt is yet only available on ATi or such. As for the PC + Console. I think BioWare has the right idea, making a game on both platforms is OK, but realise that a lot still has to be changed.
