I've noticed that we now need to have more than ten characters in order to reply to a post - is this a vb predetermination or an admin choice?
I just ask because I really wanted to reply to a post with ¬¬ but couldn't! :D
Also why isn't ¬¬ different from ¬¬ when I used the bold tags on the latter.

It's a default setting in vB3. Since there wasn't such a setting before, I expect they'll disable it or put it to 1. ;)

It is a default and we will probably change it, but I am currently enjoying the lack of "LOL" ":thumb:" and ":laff:" replies from some people.

Minimum post length leads to crazy things like <a href="http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83094&page=2&pp=25#post1033362">this</a>.

What a great, curmudgeony addition! I say keep it, or make it even higher. Smiley-posts add nothing to anything. It'll do until someone invents a "say something meaningful, dammit!" filter for new posts.

Word.
The lack of LOL :thumb: is very pleasing to me, as well.
Especially since those posts tend to come from the same small cluster of boobs, and are not a general part of things.
I did howl at jer's creative extension, for sure. :D

Sorry about that, I was just testing to see how easy it was to circumvent the ten character limit.
Not too difficult. It only counts characters in the post box rather than the number of characters that actually appear in the posted version.
