personally his guitars are not for me, but you can't deny the great music that's been made as a result of his innovations. For all it's greatness, I wish my strat could make the kind of sound Mick Ronson, Slash and others get from theirs. Here's to Les!

He also practically invented multi-tracking which is a laudable accomplishment in and of itself. Guys like Satriani and Slash cite him as a major influence too.

He is a hero. Everyone loved him and he was so into the music. Up till he died he was still playing in New York weekly. I can't remember who said it but it made me laugh 'Les Paul was a genius, you listen to some of the things he was doing in the 40's, It was just amazing but he had the worst tone ever!' Thats somewhat paraphrased
