I have a Celeron 1.7 GB socket in a U8668 motherboard, running Windows 98 running DirectX6.
I have a Nitro 64v 1.1 PCI card, and a 3D PRO H0 V1.23F PCI card. I would like to use either one, but I can not find the drivers for these cards-!
When I go on-line (using my lap-top running Windows7), the site ALWAYS wants me to download their stupid "Scan Tool" to "Optimize" my driver. The problem is that I need the file for Win98, not the one that I'm on- I also don't like the idea of these scanning tools-"Driver Detecive" "Driver Whiz" ect. Why do we need this ?
Does anyone know WHERE I can find an exacutable driver download for these cards for Window98?
I am trying to run Thief Gold and I would like to stay as "Old-school" as possible, using the best equipment for the time.

the first card is probably too old to have standalone drivers available, the ones included in win98 should be the most recent ones.the drivers for the second card can be found (
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/SIS/SiS-VGA-6326-132.shtml) here (6326 series gpu).
anyway, those cards (and their drivers) are horrible (and certainly not fast enough to run thief).if you want to turn this pc into a dedicated oldschool machine, get a voodoo3.
one last thing, never EVER install any of those
scam tools, unless you really want to
deoptimize your entire system.. :)

I would recomend registering at (
www.driverguide.com) and searching in there. I have used that site for years when dealing with clients with old computers/hardware.
The above website is where you may find the correct driver. Just be sure to scan the files after download with a virus scanner just to make sure. I never had an issue yet with drivers from there but play safe to be sure.
If you dont wish to register on that site. Post the details of the chipset on here and I will look for the driver and upload to my host for you to download.
The first card is very old and not much ram, 2 mb I think. The second is possibly 8mb and would be my choice. Dont know if thief will run on that card.

don't you just love it when someone completely ignores your post? :)
[increasing targeting resolution]the second card should be capable of running thief1 in hardware mode, and with the latest driver installed (the one I have linked),there is a even a good chance it will run without graphics errors.but the speed will be awful-remember,a 3dfx voodoo1 (yes, the grand-grandfather of all 3d accelerators) is 3 (yes thats a three) times faster.[/increasing targeting resolution]
as I said,if he wants to add some oldschool 3d capability to that pc,voodoo3 is the way to go.
