As described in the thread title, my flatscreen Norcent LM2265WA has been great until about 2 weeks ago. It would be black and blank when I start up the computer. Sometimes restarting the computer, it would come on. Then the last few days, it would be blank, and come on when I disconnect and reconnect the DVI cable.
I've tried this monitor on 2 computers, and the same results. I'm now typing this on a 17 inch CRT monitor, and getting a headache just trying to read the damn screen.
It would stay on for a few minutes, and start making a high pitched whine, then slowly whine down to a slower speed, then shut off. It keeps doing this every time I replug the DVI in.
Is it dead, or can it be repaired somehow? Google results sound sketchy.

Hi
I think you already know the answer to this one....:(

Your problem sounds like the backlight is going out. They can be repaired, but with the cost and difficulty of getting the parts and actually doing the repair you are usually just better off getting a new monitor.

I already used this as an excuse to buy a new 24 inch LCD. I am so tired of the small screens. Christ, my laptop has a bigger screen than the CRT I'm using. I will just chuck this old monitor. Anyone want it? Come to Salt Lake City, and you can have it.

What should I use to clean lcd monitor on my nikon d60 camera with or would a protective film be better? I just bought this camera. Its my first dslr so its new for me to actually have to look through the view finder ...and to do so the monitor gets smudged.Any suggestions on what to use or would those protective film coverings be ideal?
glass cleaner should be fine and if your worried about protecting the screen you can pickup a plastic film that will stick on via online stores.
