LOL, Spector might be saying "Oh well" but his buddies on high with the money will be making him tweak the software when they hear Joe Sixpack and Betty Blowsy at Wal*Mart with their fools money might not be able to buy their game for little Cletus. Or more likely, they will compromise: Wal*Mart will get a special, unmarked "PG" version, sort of like how Blockbuster carries unmarked censored versions of movies because the money people can't say no to McDistribution.
I think censorship is a fine idea, if you have an option, and it is clearly indicated. This never happens in practice. Besides, people who want censored stuff are like a holy roller jerking off in the face of a prostitute rather than stepping up to the plate and swinging long. They might not be doing the deed, but they sure want to. Or it's like smoking herbal cigarettes--if you don't approve of smoking, surely herbals shouldn't be kosher either.
Murder by the dozen is fine, but nipples are verboten: only in America, land of the free*.

We haven't had that kind of cynicsm since the topic about JC = Jesus Christ. This thread is pretty heavilly loaded but that was a good laugh i had. And i agree about the hypocrites. However I think that any form of censorship is stupid and goes against the First Amendment. However if you want to protect your children from "naughty language" (if such a thing exists) then feel free to, but not at the expense of my enjoyment of Lewd Sexual Situations, Language/"Adult" topics/Violence and anything else that a publisher/director/author wants to put in his game/movie/book.

If language such as this is commonplace for you, especially in the presence of children, then my friend you are in serious need of a self examination.
I've tried on two other occasions in this thread to make the simple point that a "CHOICE" is all that's being requested. Unfortunately several want to defend the trash talk, cursing, and leudness by interjecting their personal belief of why it's OK, now you have my personal belief of why I think it's NOT! Well, if where he lives, people aren't religious, and are even against religion, why is he in need of examination? It's not like he has breast cancer, or cancer of the moral. Being against religion isn't a crime.
Besides, wouldn't some prick who joined an organization as clearly fascist or an organization as militant as UNATCO or the NSF respectively have a propensity for foul language? When one gets shot, well, I'll let Scarface(C) "You can't shoot a fucking cop you idiot!" People tend to run their mouths off when in extreme pain... Now, let's also consider that these aren't ministers, or right wing fanatics such as your self, and tend to swear at the slightest inconvenience.
Why are developers required to provide a choice? Would it be fair to ask Michaelangelo to offer people the option to put pants on David? Before someone goes off on a radioactive spiel about how Deus Ex 2: Invisible War won't compare artistically to something like the David, video games are art, they take years to complete, and in this case show brilliant minds doing brilliant things.

Do you spot security bots along the way? C'mon guys, this is a "fantasy land"! Removing crude/lude content will NOT make it less believable, cause it's already unbelievable to start with. (Except for the Illuminati, which I do believe exists :p ) Obviously you know nothing about the literary world, (which now includes TV, movies, and video games.) I am sorry to have to point out you ignorance, most people find it insulting, but it bothers me for you to go on like that.
There is a very important term for you to know, it is “suspension of disbelief” what it refers to is the fact that you can watch a movie with wizards or aliens and believe that it could happen/is happening/did happen. This is hard to do, but any time you feel an emotional connection with a character it has been done. The reason is that you have to believe on some level that the person is real before you can relate. Most of the time that level is a small almost unnoticeable one, but in a truly great work of fiction you a immersed, the world is real to you while you're reading, watching or playing.
Whether or not you felt this way while playing Deus Ex really depends on how well you are able to suspend you're disbelief.
However the more disbelief is suspended the better, it is fairly rare for a complete suspension of it, but the more it is the more powerful it is. So how do you make someone believe that space aliens are attacking? The answer is simple, everything must be plausible. From the color of the footwear your main character has, to the alien's strategy, to the cost of milk. And most importantly peoples reactions.
So I ask you now, do you think that with all of the things happening in Deus Ex no one would swear? Do you really? I don't think you would. But you would rather not have it, now there is a reaction that just wouldn't work. You have put the pants on David with that one. If you have ever been there you know David would need some big pants. That statue is immense.
But let me try this again, you think it's ok for your son to play a game with murder, assassination, pimps, prostitutes, drug addicts, drug dealers, and so much more; but it's not ok for him to hear swears? This one really gets me. Some father you are (sorry if you're the mother) so lets see, he can shoot people, pay to have sex with them, and do drugs, but not swear. Great morals you plan to instill.
I have to say I find the people who want the swears gone to be offensive, not because it would hurt the realism (which it would), but because of the nature of the game. Fictional swearing is not all right with you, but fictional killing is? And the drugs and prostitution?
I also think the low gore function is a bad idea, the low gore to my knowledge came from a fear of desensitizing kids to violence. So what people want is for kids to see that if you shoot someone there is no blood, no pain, no unpleasant repercussions, nothing to be afraid of. To me that is desensitizing kids to violence.
I also have an issue with people's attitude to swears in the first place, you should respect you elders a bit. The so-called F-word is 4 times older than the United States of America. Using that same comparison the S-word is 6 times older. Does anyone honestly think that these words would have survived this long and become so wide spread if the majority of English speakers had decided not to used them? For them to still exist today in such abundance means that not only did every generation between their inception and now decide to use them, but it was significant quantities of these generations.
And the only reason a word is bad is because you allow it to be, think for a minute, what is wrong with a fore letter monosyllabic word which means to procreate, which is derived from both German and Latin? As a side note I always thing it is fascinating when a single word is derived from more than one language without combining portions of words from the two languages.
The answer is nothing, but the word has power. Air manipulated by vocal cords, a tongue, and lips has no power. The only reason the word has power is because some people let it, and by making it a “bad word” that people aren't allowed to used they continue, in fact there is no better way to show your love for a swear than to teat it as a taboo. There is no better way to insure it's continued existence either.

I got so carried away with that that I forgot. There is nothing in the game, not a single thing, that is not possible. Augmented soldiers, not too many years away; security bots prototypes already exist; nano keys, nano agents, nano this and nano, that all on the way; Holograms, the studies are coming along nicely; AI is being worked on although there is a debate on whether it is possible (no reason it shouldn't be, if we can be intelligent with bio-electrical signals it shouldn't be impossible to with normal electrical ones); multitools, already exist in some very rudimentary forms; should I go on?
The developers made a point of putting nothing in the game that wasn't possible.
