I think I'm right in saying that's just a sample. If the file was located in the root of the zip then it would overwrite the user's version, of course.
Kind of the user.ini in the
fan mission extras folder is a full user.ini file, however if it was located in the root of the zip (as you mentioned) it would overwrite the user's version....although this is no tthe best thing. The reason being is that the user's user.ini file may already have a lot of content due to the minimalist project or the T3Tweaker.exe or simple manual updates. By replacing the user's user.ini with Ascottk's one, this would effectively remove any stuff that the user may already have in there (and also present possible bugs if an author has some special settings in their's specifically for file settings, etc, which would work on thiers but quite possibly bugger up everyone elses).
This is the reason for the user_patch.ini file in that it doesn't replace the user's own user.ini, it just updates and adds to it, then once the FM is changed it will be restored to their original one.
The thing is there should not really be a need to have a user.ini in the zip at all as as far as I am aware the game requires one to run correctly (however it may be created upon initial playing, can't remember now). GL version 1.22 has now had reports that it works fine with KL.

I'd just written all that then saw potterr's post... I hate it when that happens! It's a very flexible system too as it'll merge any *_patch.ini files into their corresponding *.ini files for any of the base thief .ini file names (default, FacialExp, MotionTags, reverbstyles, T3AutoTag, T3Camera, T3Hud, T3InputMem, T3ItemGrid, T3Menu, T3PhysicsSound, T3PlayerAnims, T3Rumble, T3UI, T3UILights, T3UISoup). As NH knows, that's a lot of tweakability and on a per-FM basis. Kudos to the p-man.

Update. Just a few fixes (user_patch.ini should be fixed now).

Great mission so far sir! :thumb:
I have a Tech. question (it probably has already been answered but I didn't see it )
The missions works fine, picture and sound are good and I am not having problems running it. The only problem I have is that the keys don't work.
The one I picked up in the tower outside didn't open the door and the one by the note telling how to wake the sleeper doesn't work on the chest.
It just makes the "locked" sound.
Also, the objectives don't show up. As a matter of fact....they didn't show up in any of the T3 FM. They are just boxes with nothing beside them.
So....am I missing a patch of some sort?
Thanks.

You are missing the t3main.exe from potterr's site:
(
http://www.potterdevelopments.org.uk/fm/files/downloadfile.pl?DLID=7725514)
Keys for that mission are used like a health potion or a gas bomb (cycle through your inventory items, hilight, right-click or whatever activates an inventory item) assuming your setup is correct.

Uh....okay. I forgot to mention that I already have the T3Main.exe  . I downloaded it with GL.
I guess my setup is incorrect.....'cause it doesn't seem to want to pick it up.
Thanks again.
Once again sorry for not mentioning it before hand....

Look for these issues in the fm forum. If all of the t3 fms have no objectives then it's usually the wrong t3main.exe. Other than that the fm forum is usually more extensive.

I seem to have come across an annoying glitch. In the rooms between the Pagan and Hammerite hallways, if you haven't unlocked them and go ahead and blackjack the doors to the Hammerite hallway you'll get stuck in that hallway with no way to get out.

Did you finish Laremel's first objective?
