To Quote George Carlin,
Quote:
There's a different group to get pissed off at you in this country for everything your not supposed to say. Can't say Nigger, Boogie, Jig, Jigaboo, Skinhead, Moolimoolinyon, Schvatzit, Junglebunny. Greaser, Greaseball, Dago, Guinea, Whop, Ginzo, Kike, Zebe, Heed, Yid, Mocky, Himie, Mick, Donkey, Turkey, Limey, Frog. Zip, Zipperhead, Squarehead, Crout, Hiney, Jerry, Hun, Slope, Slopehead, Chink, Gook. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those words in and of themselves. Their only words. It's the context that counts. It's the user. It's the intention behind the words that makes them good or bad. The words are completely neutral. The words are innocent. I get tired of people talking about bad words and bad language. Bullshit! It's the context that makes them good or bad. The context. That makes them good or bad. For instance, you take the word "Nigger." There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word "Nigger" in and of itself. It's the racist asshole who's using it that you ought to be concerned about. We don't mind when Richard Pryer or Eddie Murphy say it. Why? Because we know their not racist. Their Niggers! Context. Context. We don't mind their context because we know their black. Hey, I know I'm whitey, the blue-eyed devil, paddy-o, fay gray boy, honkey, mother-fucker myself. Don't bother my ass. Their only words. You can't be afraid of words that speak the truth, even if it's an unpleasant truth, like the fact that there's a bigot and a racist in every living room on every street corner in this country.
I couldn't agree with that more.

In which case, unless he had a pair of shackles in one hand and a whip in the other, the Oh Noes Historical Connotations of Slavery and Submission crowd still need a can of shut the fuck up.
Unless you can demonstrate that he really did say that to express that he thinks blacks are worthless scum who are supposed to be picking cotton, yadda, yadda, etc, etc, instead of say, a very colourful 'fuck off and go die in a fire,' kindly do the latter.

In my opinion, he came pretty close to that with the line about the pitchfork and the ass.

Either that, or he was going for the most offensive response he could think of.
Either way, it's all opinion. Is he a racist? Maybe. I don't know. I really don't care either.

Gather round for a story boys and girls. A story of context. And probably irrelevant.
When I was in 8th grade, I lived in So. Cal and was the only white guy in an all black drum line in the marching band (we fucking kicked ass btw...). Guess what we all called each other? I got so used to it, that I made a comment with the phrase 'that nigga' in gym class one afternoon, and promptly got my hippie ass beat down by four HUGE black guys. They had no context, and I was out of context. The guys on the drum line were 'my niggas' and I was theirs, but it was totally uncool to use that term outside of that group where it is almost ALWAYS an indication of racial hatred.
Anyway, I got my ass beat...
Who cares if Richards is a racist? Apart from Weird Al and the Seinfeld writers, he's a hack. Have you ever SEEN his stand-up act? He deserves to be heckled because he sucks, and he sucks bad. Racism is the least of his worries if he doesn't have some good writers lined up for his next project. I think the guy's more a nut case than anything. He seemed wacked out on Letterman, just like he does on stage.

I hear you fett. I went to school in Africa and everyone was a nigger or a honkey and there was no racism behind it for the most part. But if a teacher heard you or if you used the word nigger of honkey in an offensive context you'd still cause a problem.
All in the context.
And have some stamina STD, you cop out.

As much as I loathe the "oh poor me, I'm a white male Christian and everyone is out to get me" side of politics, I have had my own experiences with racial unfairness that left me a bit...something.
So, this takes place in seventh grade. One of the wonders of being young for me was that there was so much more racial intergration - no one filled a racial stereotype, they were just themselves. It wasn't until high school that everyone started seperating and trying to fulfill their respective racial boxes.
But that's an aside. In seventh grade, there was a kid, Solomon, who bullied me. Big prick, but fortunately for me, not too bright, so his insults often fell flat. One time, he decided he'd call me "Handy Whiteman" till the end of time - Handy because I was 'mentally handicapped', and Whiteman because I was white. So he kept doing this day in and day out, and no one cared. Finally one day I got tired of it and, after he address me as Whiteman, I addressed him as Blackboy.
Course, I get in serious trouble.
My point was obvious (trying to show him how he likes it), and I tried to explain this to the teacher and she felt her hands were tied - she knew that what I had done wasn't unfair but the rules said she had to come down on me and not on him.
So, yeah. I'm not supporting this whole "oh poor white people" bullshit, but at the same time this stuff can definitely go too far.
Also, there is no such thing as reverse racism. There is just racism, on all sides.

Blacks and whites are so.....black and white about the issue.
Around here it's so diverse that there's not room for racism. Then again I'm Hispanic so my use of the term "nigga" is taken with less offense, not that I ever do use it anywho. Also, there's a huge difference between nigger and nigga, black people don't call each other niggers. This might sound silly/trivial but there really is a difference.
Infact, most social groups around here involve people of all races/etc. When we were growing up, we called the black kid "negro" and the asian kid "chino", and these nicknames were accepted. It's not fair though, I can't really refer to Miami as part of the States, it's more like Little Havana. Most people around here are mulato anyway, so the difference means less.
We're (hispanics) far harsher on gays, though. Being called gay in spanish is a prime insult.
