Maybe racial comedy could do boatloads to ease the weight of racial tension in todays society. Richards could maybe work all this into his skit to expose and reduce racism. Jesus, this isn't an instance of someone playfully adopting street slang for comedic intent. The guy lost his shit and had a vicious, racism-fueled public meltdown. Had he pulled back from the brink and flipped it into a joke the crowd would have forgiven all, but instead he ranted on and on until the theater emptied out and he slumped off stage, utterly defeated.
His use of the word nigger has fuck all to do with Chris Rock's use of the word and if you and Aircraftkiller don't recognize that then I think it's safe to say we've identified a couple of bitch niggers.

Example: I think the word should be considered inappropriate if its offensiveness is defined only by the color of the mouth it's coming from. Either that or everyone should have no issues saying it.

The reactions are incomparable. All parties involved were being cunts in their own way--who sympathises with hecklers, after all?--but Richards' behavior is newsworthy because (1) he was the famous guy on stage and (2) the sheer vitriolic ugliness of his racist tirade is staggering.
