SHAME ON A KRAMER

When you talk shit or start shit, it gets thrown back in your face-that's how the world works.
No, my point was that Richards 'started it first' - therefore it's obviously OK to mudsling back, am I right?
Quote:
yeah "cracker" is totally the same thing with the same amount of historical baggage as "nigger", and instantly associates with and conjures up images and understandings of the centuries of enslavement of white people that went on oh wait that's right you're a fucking idiot who can't see past the most superficial understanding of how racism and bigotry works!!!
So, your idea of a solution is to hand the lot of them a tissue, every time someone throws a tantrum?
What the guy did was stupid, but legal, and seems to be an excellent opportunity for some people to bawl their eyes out as if they were getting whi... Oh, wait. They need to put up, shut up, and concern themselves with more pressing problems, like, I don't know, what about poverty and the associated crap, whatever kind of racism that they believe has an impact on their lives (And if a bad comedian trying that shit on a heckler has that much of an impact on someone, they've got some pretty serious identity and self-esteem problems.)
End of fucking story.
As for the 'images of enslavement and understanding', how long is it till that card's going to expire (If not used by Chris Rock)? And remind me of the reasons for why 'waah, my ancestors were enslaved 130 years ago' is more of a pressing issue then 'fuck, I'm poor, I don'thave an education, and nobody gives me a job.'

He apologized, btw:

Weather it's a sincere apology or just i-want-to-save-my-career i wouldn't know, but there it is. Sounds like he has some other issues.

Youtube has the full apology (sporadically).
He seems sincere, but his apparent loss of words might have more to do with the anxiety of the sudden awareness of prejudices he maybe didn't know he had, rather than actual regret for his outburst. Aero's right, we're all racist to some degree. Richards' stream-of-consciousness style of comedy simply revealed these unpleasant aspects of himself that he otherwise wouldn't have consciously expressed (or perhaps even been aware of).
Also, Seinfeld Season 7 is out on DVD, so it's in everyone's interest to be on their best behaviour! :o

It sounded sincere, he seems really cut up about it. I don't know why; I wouldn't be in the least bit sorry. You don't wanna get called a dumbass nigger, then don't behave like a dumbass nigger. QED.
Aja on 25/11/2006 at 06:26
Calling him a nigger is one thing, but the comment about hanging upside down with a fork in his ass was completely uncalled for, and worthy of an apology.

I know it probably wasn't, but watching it, in the context of a comedy performance, the whole tirade slightly seemed to me like it was trying to be a very risqué joke that nobody got and fell so embarrassingly flat that everyone just took his words seriously.
What would be worse, apologising for being racist or claiming it was meant to be a joke and (thereby) admitting you're a crap comedian?
