Hey everyone, there are only two weeks left for voting, so please take just a few minutes and head over to the (
http://www.keepofmetalandgold.com/c6voting.htm) Contest 6 Voting Page to rate the missions!
Thanks! :thumb:

Just completed Starting from Scratch and with it the batch of six FMs. I want to say a big thanks to all the authors - I enjoyed every one and since I'm working my way through Komag's excellent tutorial I begin to appreciate just how much work goes into these things.
Thanks again to everyone; I'll save individual comments for when I've decided how to vote!

I'm confused about voting.
Creature Clash, for example, how do I mark it for use of space or special effects? What does 5 mean? Usually it means average but if an FM has no special effects do I give it 0?

I would use 5 for no special effects, 10 for very good special effects and 0 for positively bad special effects that detracted from the experience.

Yes, that's a good way to think of it. If it had no special effects but clearly needed some and the mission suffers from the lack of them, then you would vote 0 or 1 or something. But if it's fine without them then a 5 is appropriate.
However, Creature Clash has a lot of "Tech", although it's just behind the scenes. It takes more than just placing items to link up a system as complex as that battle simulator. The voting category is described:
"Tech - Visual effects, conversations, spells, tricks, animations, interactions, complex systems"
That said, I agree it's sometimes difficult or ambiguous to rate each mission in each category, they don't all fit well or make perfect sense. But thanks for asking. Every vote will help the results to be more fully representative.
And that's a good example I'll mention for the voting rules next time, thanks

It might be more natural if you use -5, 0, +5 rather than 0, 5 , 10, since people would naturally associate negative numbers with "bad" and 0 with "average".
I don't know how this would affect your voting calculations however.

It wouldn't need to, you can still use 0 to 10. I've taken part in customer surveys where 5 is "indifferent" and 0 and 10 are "strongly disagree/dislike" and "strongly agree/like", respectively.

I'm not saying it doesn't work with 0 to 10, just that the required interpretation would be more obvious with -5 to +5.

I didn't pay very close attention to previous contests. Now that voting is over do we get to find out who the authors are so we can discuss different things, or do we have to wait for the scores to be released?
edit: Yeah, just read the thread in the other forum. Cool.
