A very special island is inhabited only by knights and knaves. Knights always tell the truth, and knaves always lie. You meet two inhabitants: Sally and Zippy. Sally claims, `I and Zippy are not the same.' Zippy says, `Of I and Sally, exactly one is a knight.'
So who is a knight and who is a knave?
Please answer this for me. I worked it out and I think I have the right answer, but I have a list of the answers, and it is not the same as what I came up with. I question the validity of the answers now and I need a concenus here because I plan on using a bunch of these questions for a project. Thanks :thumb:

I think they're both goddamn liars
Also why do these things always have to take place on special islands?

They're both knaves. If Sally were a knight, Zippy would have to be a knave. But since that would mean Zippy's statement is true, that can't be correct. So Sally's a knave, which means Zippy's statement about there being one knight between them is false, and that they *are* the same.

it's the Friday Knight... ah shit wrong poll ¬¬

Right. That's exactly what I came up with, that they are both knaves... However the set of answers I have says that Sally is a Knight, and Zippy is a knave.
Which means I can't trust the answers to the other 350 some questions :(

That's totally dumb, if Z is a knave then they both have to be knaves or they both have to be knights. Your question book is shoddy!
Knave is a funny looking word, by the way.

Well actually all the questions were generated by a computer by 1 guy, and then a different group of people wrote an interpereter to parse the questions and solve the answers. The second group posted the solutions to all the questions. I was just using their solutions to double check my own work for fun, and then I find out that their thing is flawed. :erg:

It's actually twisted, to make a trap for fools.

Also, what the hell is with the grammer in that question. "I and Sally?"

That's pretty good for a computer answer!
I think you're under-estimating how hard it is to pull off even the most basic logic. You shouldn't look to them for the right answers, but cheer them on for being on the right track.
What probably happened is the algorithm [damn interrupted post, back in a minute...]
