It's now two weeks since the release, and it seems like KCD2 has been a big success so far. It's still topping the best seller chart on Steam and with most of the ridiculous 0/10 user reviews out of the way now, it's also getting really good reviews all over the place. :thumb: Here's a typical example of one of those idiotic reviews that Steam was full of on the first week after the release. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

https://i.ibb.co/W4Mr8Xvf/voihan-lol.jpgI guess I'll never understand people like this. I mean, this fellow has bought a game at full price, "played" it for 0.1 hours, just to spread his anti-woke propaganda or whatever? I still haven't played KCD2, but as far as I know, the male romance only happens if the players
wants it to happen (yet all those people seem to know everything about it?! :erm:), and from what I've heard there's
one black character in the game. Yeah, I guess that makes a game a steaming pile of woke trash then.
The other half of the negative reviews is from people who find the game too difficult/slow/boring, which is fair enough I guess. (I still find the 0 score reviews pathetic though...) People complaining that they find it too difficult to fight three or more enemies at the same time, or that they'd rather fight bad guys than spend time picking flowers, or that there's too much dialogue and cutscenes. I guess those people never played KCD 1.

Ah, yes, the "keep politics out of my video games" crowd is still at it, I see, as transparent as ever. Though I do seem to remember the devs being very adamant about not having any people of colour in their game during the KS in... damn, has it really been over 10 years?

Seems like there's something missing from Tomi's post above. Was there supposed to be a link there, between the 1st and 2nd paragraph?
I don't really get that RPS article, with the premise that Warhorse's decisions are coming back haunt them. The game is (
https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/kingdom-come-deliverance-2-surpasses-staggering-new-sales-threshold) selling great and getting phenomenal reviews. How is that being bit in the ass? They're laughing all the way to the bank. I'm guessing they couldn't care less about a few random comments in the forums. Seems like much ado about nothing.

There's an image of a Steam review that you're apparently not seeing.
The premise of the RPS article's quite plainly spelled out, not sure what there is to explain. Vavra wooed the Gamergate crowd with KCD 1 by echoing their sentiments, and the GG crowd celebrated that it didn't look or sound 'woke'. Those very same people are incensed that KCD 2 is showcasing 'wokeness' now, and they're the face of the backlash Tomi's talking about. Whether the game is selling well isn't the point - it's the crowd of dumbasses who rallied over KCD 1 as an example of based anti-woke devs making games for them, and now are agitated over that appearing to be a lie.

Strange on the image, it's not showing up for me at all, but if I "reply with quote" to Tomi's post, I can see the URL within the code.
I guess my point was that the group of people who are upset seems like such a small percentage that it's not really worth writing an article about. I did notice after I posted that the article was written almost two weeks before the game was even released, so it appears that it was more of anticipatory strike than anything else.
Sales and reviews do matter, since that's where developers usually end up paying the price (aka getting "bit on the arse"). Not in this case however.

Reviews don't usually talk about a game developer's political leanings as part of their critique unless it's a really outstanding issue, so that's not particularly relevant to the situation. Vavra being bit on the arse is pretty clear, since he had to field disgruntled people haranguing him on Twitter about the apparent reversal of message in his new game.
And yeah, good sales in this instance is a pretty good thing, because it means that despite how much the vocal minority of anti-woke people want something to fail, they're a) clearly a minority if gamers are buying it despite their chafing, and b) more people, in this instance at least, care about how good a game is more than its ideological slant.

Go woke, go br...eak sales records?

I'll suspend judgment at least until I hear the eminent input of Eva on the game. Maybe he can persuade me this time. XD God bless him, after all this time he still gives us the worst (best?) anti-woke takes on games, given we're about the least receptive gaming forum for them out of all the forums out there he could pick from that would gobble them up and ask for seconds.

I'm particularly looking forward to his analysis on the jiggle physics in KCD2.
