Its the time again when I get to experience something rather magical; I'm not very good at remembering to pump up my bike tires. They slowly over the year deflate imperceptiably until it gets to the point where its taking nearly twice as long as it should do to get to places.
Then you pump them up back to 4 bar from 1.5 bar.
You're king of the road again! Everyone else zips past you in a blur of slow. Its that magical time of year when distances contract and you suddenly have more free time than you had before.
Even the cars slide back behind you as you zoom past them,
You're the king of the road.
Sure, it would be sensible to keep your tires pumped up on a regular basis, but would it be as fun?

I find the same effect occurs when you go from a car running on petrol fumes to a full tank.

I find that same effect when I tank my car with jet fuel. I don't do it very often.

I eagerly await the next thread about rollerskating in a buffalo herd.

Although you don't go as fast, cycling with half inflated tyres is a hell of a workout. Also, am I the only one who laughs when speeding by cars in a traffic jam? I'm not, am I?

Lord I think I hate you! It takes me an hour and 45 minutes to drive 25 km's to work every morning.

Hey, you get to laugh at us when it starts pouring with rain, it all evens up ;)
Shayde on 11/10/2006 at 14:03
Well rain's not all that frequent over here but cyclists do have a tendency to end up splattered all over the road. I'll take irritation over evisceration any day.

Wanna be the Juggernaut? Get yourself kevlar-coated tires. I got myself some Centurions. Since I have these I´m unstoppable. Never had a flat tire since, regardless of which sharp crap I drove through.
Repairing flat tires is just fucking annoying.

Seconded on going the extra for decent tyres. Though prefering conti grandprix 4000 at the moment. Which get pumped up near enough before every trip to exactly 120psi. I'm always king of the road. It's always fun. Except when raining or very very windy. Does that make me anal? Do I care?
Also recommended is new grease in the old wheel axles once in a while. King of the road x2. And a spotlessly clean and freshly oiled chain and gear-set. It's a wonder I'm not faster.
