Are you seriously this stupid? Wait, I forgot who I was talking to. I reread his post about 3 or 4 times, thinking maybe it was something I'd missed, but no, I didn't miss jackshit. Without any further qualification, his post seems like he's looking for help trying to read War and Peace on an ereader or something. He even SAYS "books"- twice.
"My iPhone 3G will read them just fine but it is really clunky to try and read a whole book on it."
"I can't justify a ~$360 price tag to read books electronically."
Now wouldn't someone, an outside observer, say, come to the conclusion in the absence of HEY GUYS THESE PDF FILES AREN'T BOOKS (BUT WHAT THEY ACTUALLY ARE I'M NOT TELLING YOU) that grip was trying to read a book?
My misunderstanding is because he wasn't clear enough in his original post. Fair enough, it happens. While I oppose the concept of ereaders in principle (hence my initial response), I can understand why he would want one. But that doesn't change the fact that he left out vital information. If it was clear enough for you then maybe you're just fucking psychic. But I don't think you'd want to read my mind 'cuz you'd never look at your mom the same way again.
Pudchugger.

No sir being right all the time just takes a little smarts
This exchange has far outstayed its welcome, I'd say. Two for
Watchmen, I'll buy?

Watchmen would never work being read on an ebook...

What's with TTLGs inability to answer simple questions due to some inherent tendency to always turn a discussion into a high moral and ethical ground preachery? Seriously, who the fuck cares if you like books on paper or on pixels, it's utterly irrelevant to the topic at hand.
Not to mention there are a shit ton of FREE ebooks for the exact purpose of saving paper. But if "legality" of ebooks wasn't your point, then I don't know what the fuck it is that you're arguing for.

Guilty as charged yer honour. :(

Does CBR even count?
And anyway it's not so much the legality as it's- ... ah, hell, what's the fucking point in even trying to explain it? Aside from DRM issues, being overcharged way more than you would for a print copy of the same book, not being able to share or resell the book you bought, not being able to read without batteries or electricity, there's certain old-fashioned aesthetic reasons that are less easy to explain.

But excellent when you want to skive off and don't want to be caught with a copy of Thud! in your hands.
