I know this thread hasn't been posted in for a while, but I just played this at a friend's house the other day.
Aside from being the best-looking game ever made, the multiplayer gameplay was FANTASTIC. I didn't get a chance to play the SP, which I haven't really heard much good about, but the multiplayer really surprised me. It's NEVER felt this good to kill opponents before in a game, the wackjob controls actually add quite a bit to the multiplayer experience.
If I were to get a PS3, it'd be for this game and The Last Guardian.

Single player is ok, reminded me of Dark Forces 2, all the enviroments have this Star Wars vibe.

hey you, adapter

Has anyone here finished the game on Veteran?
The last level is nearly impossible, 4 hours already in it alone. I'm stuck in Radek's Palace, defending against waves on 2nd floor, died no less than 200 times already during the level. It was a very enjoyable shooter before this level.
And yet there is unlockable Elite.... even shudder to think about it.
PS: Graphics and style are great, I'm impressed. KZ1 on PS2 was horrible in that regard, didn't think guerillas would manage to make something good with KZ2 and was very sceptical initially.

At the time, Killzone was great looking and an extremely solid FPS (one of the top 3 on PS2). It looked and played great. Dunno if you are only just NOW playing it, but when it came out all of those years ago, it truly pushed the PS2's graphics and memory capabilities. Looked amazing in motion. Only trumped by BLACK, imho.

Sooo,
Killzone: Shadowfall (PS4)...
I watched the opening cutscene. So the Vektans give the Helghast refugees half of their planet AND let them maintain their full military might? I haven't even started playing yet and the game is already fucking retarded.
...
So now I'm playing the first level, it's CoD-esque "do what the NPC says" BS. It's set when the main character is child, I'm assuming directly after the "planetary handover" to the Helghast "refugees".
So Vektan citizens are evicted from their homes and the Helghast indiscriminately gunning down these unarmed civilians. How was there not an immediate renewed military conflict the two sides? Christ and I thought that writing in Killzone 2 was lazy and uninspired but this just takes things to whole new level of shit. I expect writing this shit from a low budget Euro-jank, middle-market game sold on Steam, not a multi-million dollar budget AAA game.

So I liked it. The demo was a tad short, but it's definitely made me look forward to the full game. Can't wait! :thumb:
In hindsight, Killzone 2 turned out to be an extremely banal, CoD4 clone in space vs. space Nazis.
It had all of the garbage mission designs that you'd expect from early CoD campaigns too:- enemies respawn until you cross the invisible line; "defend the area" whilst fighting successive waves of enemies until the mission timer runs out.
Playing the rather shit Killzone series makes one wonder if the hype that Horizon: Zero Dawn is getting is warranted at all.

I finished KZ SF a month ago, and it was rather meh experience.
Surely, maps often were non-linear and large compared with KZ2/3, but generally, design and presentation of this game were bad and gameplay/atmosphere not involving. I bought it for about $15, but I don't think it was worth it. Wolfenstein The New Order is a much much better shooter.

All right. Now with six years of hindsight behind us, and being older and wiser than my 2009 self, my views on Killzone 2 have... remained the same. Good, polished shooter, did nothing new, great graphics, atmospheric. 7/10.
KZ:SF looked semi-interesting at launch, but to be honest I'm struggling to find a reason to get a PS4 to find out. Horizon: Zero Dawn could be good if GG do something new with it. As it is, they're probably all Killzoned out by now, having only done varying iterations on it since the PS2 days. Sometimes a shake-up to a dev house's formula results in good things: A:I was a wonderful game that, until the moment it became clear how special it was, no one would have imagined uncoiling its slithery bulk out from the house of Total War.

Huh. I never noticed that
Alien: Isolation was by Creative Assembly before. Apparently they also did a couple of hack'n'slash titles ("Total Warrior" I see what you did there).
