I figure this needs a thread even though there's like what, 4 people in TTLG that have a PS3. :D
So they released the demo today... as far as the EU's concerned, anyway. The rest of you in America are either gnashing your teeth at this or feverishly awaiting your download code because you pre-ordered the game (or surreptitiously setting up an EU account. Gotta love those multiple PSN accounts, eh? :ebil:).
Anyway, the demo. Graphically, it's extraordinary - extraordinary that there's so much brown and grey (next gen grafix colour palette babeh woo hoo!) but also extraordinary that it still manages to look positively stunning. What's bordering on miraculous is that, amidst the smoke trails and rippling water and explosions and sparks and aircraft zooming through the scenery, you can't help but notice that the frame rate always remains buttery smooth, no matter what's going on in front of you.
It also plays rather well. There's a heft and solidity to the controls which makes the gunplay all the more enjoyable, almost like, say, Stalker. It's not a frenzied, adrenaline-charged rush like CoD, but a slower, more measured, somewhat more tactical experience.
So I liked it. The demo was a tad short, but it's definitely made me look forward to the full game. Can't wait! :thumb:

A First person cover system. Someone finally made leaning work in console FPS! :D
Mind you Medal of Honour: Airborne had leaning whilst using ironsight aiming and traditional leaning would be a total non-gimmicky way to utilise Sixaxis tilting. But I can totally see KZ2's cover system becoming a standard.

six-axis is a waste of life.

So are you but you don't see me making po... oh shi.
I also enjoyed the demo, although I can't decide weather the game wants me to focus on the cover system and hip firing or aiming iron sight. I mean, I'm managing to do both with controller setup Alternate 2, but I have to fumble a bit with crouch and aim.

Demo -> :eek:
This is a great-looking game alright. I hope they tweak the movement somewhat it kinda feels like you are pushing your character around instead of controlling him.

I'm currently playing Killzone 1.
I'm not very good at console FPS's. I played Halo a lot when it first came out and got really good. Not Xbox live good but pretty good.
I cannot get a handle on this game. I play like my wife. Is it the PS2 controller or what? The xbox controllers are much easier to use for a 1st person kind of game, but its the same basic thing. I played a bit of Halo 3 with my friends the other night (they whined okay?) and I did alright.
I just can't aim. when i'm shooting at enemies its usually from a stationary position. because I can't track them while i'm moving.
Anybody else have this problem?
I hope it gets a bit easier for Killzone 2. I dont own an ps3 and probably wont until they come out with the slim lite version that sells for 150 bucks, but still i'll get one someday and I'll play this game.

Volition, try lowering the stick sensitivity. It's a lot easier to aim with analogue sticks that way.

Playstation controlers are more precise, takes a while to get used to it.
