Anna: I set two TNT crates (from boathouse) just inside of Lebedev's doorway. Had conversation with her then retreated into Lebedev's room to shoot crates with SP. Replayed the scene several times until I actually got to see Anna blow up..........evil.
Gunther: I set two LAMs and two EMPs on one of the pillars against wall. Waited for Gunther to initiate conversation and then ran away. He followed and KABLOOEY! Too easy.
How did everyone else do it (assuming you're not playing non-lethal)?

Anna: In the plane, after she comes in, I just stood right behind her, aim my sawn-off shotgun at the small of her back, and POW "Argh!" Ka-Booom. I used to waste a GEP rocket on her in the past ...
Gunther: Either I led him to a LAM-on-wall, or I run, cloak, then when he settles down, sneak up and slice him with the Dragon's Tooth. Once I kept shooting him with tranqs just to see if I could knock him out. Another time, I got a non-lethal DT hit on him and he started running away, so I pulled out my baton, chased after him and kept wacking him til he goes down.
After my first game to familiarise myself with the World of Deus Ex, I kept playing on Realistic, so I die very fast in pitched battles (unless I turn on Regen) since I eschew Ballastic Protection in favour of getting both Cloak/Radar Transp.

Anna: On 747, with Sniper Rifle to head several times. Can be a pain on expert - you'd expect her to die straight away after being shot in the head at point blank with a high caliber rifle. But alas, she doesn't. Hrhm.
Gunther: Killphrase preferentially, but if not, then same as Anna. Boring, yes, but effective. That or a slug or two from the good ol' Auto Shotgun. :cheeky:
Makes me want to go play DE again...

I usually throw a grenade at Anna in the 747, and say the killphrase for Gunther. I never actually tried to kill Gunther differently. Why make things difficult?
Well, next time I'll give it a try =) Shouldn't be that difficult... or is it?:p

Either way, I don't think it is a spoiler to know that you will have to kill Anna or Gunther eventually, and if someone did enter this thread, then they do see the warning I issue.....
About making things difficult, I was actually just looking to get rid of some LAMs & EMPs. Throughout the game you get so many items that eventually I like to start using them, and having less than 20 of them. Seems like a waste when you end the game with so much that you weren't required to use.

Anna: killphrase,
Gunther: I don't kill him.

As a side note, did anyone else get Simons to go Cloak? I messed around with his fight, and I noticed a few things;
1. If you immediately attack him and do enough damage (one or two 20mm HE grens from AR will do the trick), he won't even initiate the conversation.
2. He has awesome headshot ability with that Plasma Rifle, so you have to have the right weapon equipped, or be very fast.
3. If you run from him before he can initiate the conversation, he will chase you for a little bit, but he can get hung-up on objects. AI bug, I'm sure.
4. Cloaked enemies still "drip" blood, making it easier to track them.
5. Once he is cloaked, you can safely prod him or baton him to get the non-lethal takedown. He's just hard as hell to track while cloaked and running around like a nut....
6. If you do enough damage to him to keep him from initiating the cut scene, but not to cloak, he'll stay green/friendly in the IFF, but he'll run away and not initiate the conversation even if you chase him around and wait for him to calm down.
7. Once he runs out of Plasma ammo or if you get too close, he'll whip out the Dragon Tooth sword, but he totally sux with it. I don't even think he swung it at me. What was really funny was running (with Speed aug lvl 4) up to him, and watching him swap weapons, and then running a couple steps away and watching him switch back to PR. Keep repeating and he never actually uses a weapon on you, just keeps swapping back and forth.....LOL! This would be great way to bring him down non-lethally I think.
Anyone else have any comments on WS?
Skilless on 8/11/2002 at 17:32
Me, freaked out? Nope, just haven't had the opportunity to see anyone else go cloak before (Anna goes too quick, although I did get a screenshot of Anna exploding ;) ). I knew what it was right away, but I did lose track of him (he had gone into the red-darkened hallway that you exit out of when he initiates the cutscene...). Anyway, I just thought it odd that I could do just enough damage to make him go cloak and run away, like the little girlly-man that he is (nothing against girls, I have 2).
Note: left a comment on that thread, laff!
