When is it okay to kill Divayth Fyr without ruining my game?

I haven't gotten that far (I've been away from my game comp for the last two weeks *whine*) but I understand it's okay after he cures you. It still says you've "broken the thread of fate", but from what I understand it's bogus at that point.
