I killed this Necromancer just east of Dagon Fel. Just wanna make sure I didn't screw myself for something later on. I don't think I did... he DID attack me first.. but who knows. Thanks in advance! :)

Your fine... I think there is a quest to kill him from the imperial cult or somewhere.

He comes in one Quest, a Imperial Cult quest to Kill him and you can also get the mask of Clavius Vile, a Wonderful enchanted daedric mast that has Constant Effect fortify Personality
Talk to people in town about him and you get disposition bonus'es, thats a plus
Kilana on 13/10/2002 at 22:50
I still don't know why that mask has 30 points of fortify personality... I think the thing is really, really ugly...

I think they were going to put more into this "Clavicus Vile" character, but were pressed for time. I mean, that name alone reeks of the sort of cheesy gothic horror genre I so enjoy ;)

Clavicus Vile, whose sphere is the granting of power and wishes through ritual invocations and pact. He is probably one of the more fleshed out Daedra in the TES world and has appeared in both Daggerfall AND Redguard.
The Masque of Clavicus Vile also makes an appearance in Daggerfall, and has the following description:
"Ever the vain one, Clavicus Vile made a masque suited to his own personality. The bearer of the masque is more likely to get a positive response from the people of Tamriel. The higher his personality, the larger the bonus. The best known story of the masque tells the tale of Avalea, a noblewoman of some renown. As a young girl, she was grossly disfigured by a spiteful servant. Avalea made a dark deal with Clavicus Vile and received the masque in return. Though the masque did not change her looks, suddenly she had the respect and admiration of everyone. A year and a day after her marriage to a well connected baron, Clavicus reclaimed his masque. Although pregnant with his child, Avalea was banished from the baron's household. Twenty one years and one day later, Avalea's daughter claimed her vengeance by slaying the baron."
Here's a small picture of Clavicus Vile:

Whooops, thanks for the correction, Striker ;)

No problem. :D Sometimes you can forget that there are other games and that they may contain information that is relevant to Morrowind.

Yeah, I did get the mask when I killed him. I like the way it looks :) And the 30 to personality is a nice bonus for a thief character.
