Wait, huh, what? I mean, I could understand the original Deus Ex being called hard (but not "nigh impossible"), but Invisible War? ...How about
Ninja Gaiden?

It wasn't even that difficult to play through non-lethal mêlée-only on my first playthrough...
(But then again, I finished Far Cry at Realistic so my experiences probably don't count...)

He doesn't mention SS2s ability to reduce grown men to tears. In fact if IW is 'impossible' SS2 must reach through the screen and gouge your eyes out with its thumbs.
Strange choice. I wonder if he was thinking of something else, or just couldn't think of a really divisive and disliked game... actually I don't really know what he's saying there. I wouldn't call IW particularly entryist (not for want of trying mind you)

Editor misunderstood something I wrote and, edited it to that, which I must have missed it when they re-showed it to me. What I said originally was that the whole Entryism thing can work or not - KOTOR was a console-friendly version of a Bioware RPG which people generally liked. DXIW was a console-friendly version of an Immersive Sim which people generally didn't.
I'll see if I can get it changed.

Oh, I see; a contrast between ...er accessabilising different types of game rather than different levels of difficulty.
I wonder if the immersive sim could be so adjusted successfully. I guess we can chalk up Bioshock as an attempt
Brem_X_Jones on 7/5/2008 at 12:30
Yeah - there's all sorts of "Hard" after all. And, yes, Bioshock is very much another attempt at that sort of thing. And, generally speaking, one which turned out more popular than Invisible War's attempt.

Amazing what months upon months of high-intensity marketing can do for a game's sales.
