At least your kidney would feel right at home...

I don't even give blood, like hell those fuckers are getting an organ.
Not even fingernail clippings?

You can clone meat, for example, but you just get a lump of Spam.
Is that how they're making it now? Maybe we'll start seeing new cans in the grocery store, "Spam: Long Pig flavor!"

For the record, my recipient was a total stranger to me when I offered him my kidney 9 months ago. We are very close friends now, but that was not my reason for donating to him.
On the bright side, he'll always have a part of you with him. :cheeky:

Ahh I can see it now. The nurse standing outside my door shaking her head saying "I don't know doctor, he's been doing that for hours now" as they watch me typing on a non-existent keyboard mumbling to myself "Its brilliant! My best work ever!!!"
Dude, I so hope you gave them a video camera before the procedure so we can see this.
... How long before he was supposed to be out of the hospital again?
Displacer on 25/8/2008 at 10:29
I'm out of the hospital everyone. I'll write more later and post a few pics (and yes, they literally cut me in half). My recipient is doing well and he should be out later on today after they get some of his meds adjusted.
Thats about all I can type now as you would not believe how much this hurts...

Big props, champ.

Congrats :)
... Wait a min, how did you manage to post from an invisible laptop?
OMG RUN HE'S A ZOMBIE NOW!

Glad you're both getting well. My wishes for a fast recovery!

I've had a procedure done on my lung. I've got a glimmer. Sucks, don't it? Hopefully they gave you the awesome painkillers for your recovery! :joke:

I'm glad you both are doing well. I guess I don't have to tell you to take it easy for at least a few days! ;)
jtr7 on 25/8/2008 at 18:43
Bravo!
I had a little back surgery, and once the painkillers wore off I felt like I had a bad flu, or had been attacked by a dozen enraged whiffleball players, for all the achiness all over my body, so you're right, I can't imagine how much how much or how loudly your body is protesting the loss of an organ!
Thanks for touching base!

:) Glad to have you back, Displacer. Good to hear things went out well.
Keep us posted once you're able to write s'more!
