Already on it. After death it's all fair game
But yeah, I admire what Displacer is doing and honestly I'd do the same for a friend. Surgery and six weeks of recovery are a small price to pay for the health of someone close to you.
But waiting rooms full of hollow-eyed strangers can suck it.
You're an insensitive dick. I lost both eyeballs in a wine bottle accident. I can't suck it because I CAN'T FIND IT. I'm lucky to find my way around this braille keyboard thingie.

For the record, my recipient was a total stranger to me when I offered him my kidney 9 months ago. We are very close friends now, but that was not my reason for donating to him. I met him online, (you can watch a short video of the place (

I also hope the video will give a little insight as to why took on the job of saving this mans life.

No friends? But you display such a warm and fuzzy personality... :(
LoL enough with the sarcasm, okay? I do have some half-friends and stuff, but not a true friend - does any of you even have such? Maybe older ones do, but for my age 99% treat each other like crap or hang out and drink beer and stuff. That's not it.
Back to topic, then, folks.
That video was almost touching ^^ makes me hope my kidneys won't screw up...

Wow. You are equal parts heroic and insane.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.
I hope you stay friends when this is over. But even if you should fall apart this will have been a good deed and something to be be proud of.

Well after 9 months of grueling testing, I've been cleared to donate my left kidney to my friend. The surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday Aug. 19th.
I'm kind of in fear mode at the moment, I mean basically they're going to strap me to a table and butcher me. Its ok though, my friend will die without this so I'm willing to take the risks, the pain, and the recovery so he will live.
It wasn't as hard facing what they're going to do to me while I was undergoing testing, but since I got the call this afternoon that all hurdles had been cleared and the surgery was next week it became a reality. There's no more testing or paperwork, just the surgery.
Sorry, I just needed to vent off some of this stress so I can get packing. I have to fly down to Florida on Saturday to meet with the entire transplant team, pre-op testing and paperwork before Tuesday.
Its been a long and wild road, and its finally coming to an end.

They had a spot on our local news tonight about a crew who are actually in the testing phase of taking people's cells and growing things like heart valves for patients
Too bad thats a crime against god.

I believe the right term here is supererogatory ... way above the normal call of duty. We should all try to do something above-and-beyond sometime in our lives, and this is great inspiration. Best of luck.
