Well after 9 months of grueling testing, I've been cleared to donate my left kidney to my friend. The surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday Aug. 19th.
I'm kind of in fear mode at the moment, I mean basically they're going to strap me to a table and butcher me. Its ok though, my friend will die without this so I'm willing to take the risks, the pain, and the recovery so he will live.
It wasn't as hard facing what they're going to do to me while I was undergoing testing, but since I got the call this afternoon that all hurdles had been cleared and the surgery was next week it became a reality. There's no more testing or paperwork, just the surgery.
Sorry, I just needed to vent off some of this stress so I can get packing. I have to fly down to Florida on Saturday to meet with the entire transplant team, pre-op testing and paperwork before Tuesday.
Its been a long and wild road, and its finally coming to an end.

You're a real hero, Displacer!! A good friend of mine gave a kidney to his father. It's not an easy thing to do, but you will never regret it. Being able to give someone thier life back is a priceless gift. You rock!! :thumb:
