Strange, someone must have a withdrawn a sizable donation - I'm watching the Kickstrarter like a hawk, and I thought earlier today it was over the $475K mark, but now it's back down to $466K.

Yeah, one of the $10,000 slots is now available again. Pretty unfortunate, when that's about an average day's funding right now -- the kicktraq daily graph is currently negative. Hopefully the other top-tier backers are all in it for the long haul.

Yep, there's now one $10K pledge slot available. Those $10K slots had been sold out since the first few days. Here's hoping it's someone who decided to fund outside of Kickstarter, maybe in hopes of opening up a slot for someone else. (Yeah I know -- that's a really optimistic angle on a sudden $10K drop.)
Reading the official forums, I'm afraid this project may disappoint some people.
If you evaluate:
1) The original Underworld games
2) The trajectory of the design philosophy employed by Looking Glass, which ended with the Thief games.
3) The design paradigm employed by the games most directly influenced by Looking Glass games (Deus Ex, Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah, BioShock, Dishonored)
4) The gameplay OtherSide shows, describes and pushes the most in the Kickstarter so far...
You come up with a rich immersive sim with RPG elements. There seems to be a faction of fans over at the official forums that are more interested in an old school hardcore stat-oriented RPG. These aren't the same thing.
I think this may be because of the Ultima name associated with the first games, as well as the RPGs of the era in which the original Underworlds were released. But I'm afraid quite a few enthusiastic people over there might be barking up the wrong tree.
(Note: I'm not suggesting Underworld Ascendant won't be an RPG or won't have character growth and customization through stats. But there is a difference between a hardcore stat-oriented RPG experience and an immersive sim employing RPG elements for greater player choice and expression.)

(
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/othersidegames/underworld-ascendant/posts/1139509) Update 14. Sad to see that a pledge was dropped. They'll hopefully get another whale was the campaign winds down.
Quote:
“In Underworld Ascendant, instead of the designers scripting a set solution path for a player, the Improvisation Engine puts the problem solving in the player’s hands.
“Our designers lay out an encounter; setting up the monsters, traps, the physical layout, and the like. Then the world simulation is turned on. A set of fairly complex interactions and dynamics take place of their own accord. The player comes into this dynamic mix, and can permeate this situation in whole range of ways, some of which the designers may have never imagined.”

This is the first one of these "Kick - Starter" thingies I've participated in. Would've done the same for Star Control 4 and Betrayal at Krondor 2. Anyways, make it good. Btw, strewth!, lost my original account (without the i).

Is there anywhere on the kickstarter page that tells you what you can pay your donation with? I didn't see anything.
It's pretty tricky to find -- they really should make it easier -- but I found this under (
https://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/backer+questions#faq_63043) Backer Questions:
Quote:
What forms of payment can I use to make a pledge?
You can use a debit or credit card associated with Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. If using a pre-paid credit card, please make sure that the card has a value of at least $1 more than your pledge amount.
I hope that helps.

Stupid of me not to think about looking at the site faq at all so thanks a lot for that. I kind of assumed that each campaign would have its own way of doing it. :o

Now that Terri and Stephen are on board, they should offer either of them recording a custom voicemail greeting as a backer reward.
