I'm not sure I'd like a glowing keyboard - isn't the extra light distracting?
And... why would I need to see where the keys are? Especially for a game like Thief?
The only keys I ever have any issues with is the high number keys, because I'm still not used to pressing them with my left hand.

I don't find it distracting especially because with the Saitek you can dim the lights right down.
I like to game in the dark with no lights and often there isn't enough light from the monitor to see the keys properly and while I know the keys for most games after playing them for a bit, I find it useful to stop the occasional fumble.
(But it's the decent key action on this keyboard that really won me over.)

My point was that a backlit keyboard is pointless if you already know where the keys are. ;)
I sometimes wish I could get rid of some of the lights on my computer, like the blue power glow - especially when watching films.

I just discovered the (

Love the guy who spills beer on his keyboard the day he bought it.
serves him right for playing Starcraft 2

I have the very same Saitek keyboard. You a)can dim the light, b)switch colors from red/blue/violet, and c)can turn it off altogether. The only thing retarded about it is that it won't keep your setting when you shut down. But then I don't turn my computer off often, so YMMV.

I may have to take a look at that when I buy mine; it's fairly inexpensive and I like the look, and if you can turn off the glow when you don't want it, so much the better.

Get a Microsoft Natural keyboard. Seriously, you won't go back.

Is that the ergonomic one? I've been thinking about changing my keyboard recently to something a bit more pleasing, either an ergonomic one or potentially a Dvorak layout.

I have tried many keyboards - including Apple's - for my PC. At the end of the day, I settled for an Lenovo Thinkpad USB keyboard. See, I have been using an IBM-now-Lenovo ThinkPad at work all my life and it's a great keyboard. Being so familiar with it, I naturally compare many keyboards with it. It didn't occur to me that Lenovo sells the same keyboard but for a desktop. It even has the red Trackpoint and a Touchpad. Perfect!
