I was stuck for the longest time on Dead Space at the tentacled pregnant thing that attaches itself to a wall and fires more tentacles at you. Eventually I took a few weeks' break away from it and looked the thing up on a wiki and figured out how to beat it. Now I came back. Thing is, between then and now, I've got myself a new mouse. The old one was a typical three-button-and-scroll-wheel affair; this one is a cheap 'gaming' mouse with four-way scrolling and two extra mouse buttons. So I messed about with the key binds a bit, and discovered that apparently the game's been made for someone who uses my old mouse, since I can't bind anything to scrolling up, down, left or right, or my additional mouse buttons. I hate using the row of number keys (I use the number pad instead) so I bound the weapon selection to the arrow keys instead, but now I'm trying to bind the weapon slots to the scroll wheel for easier access. And I can't.
I use X-Mouse Button Control to create profiles for my mouse buttons for web browsing and Deus Ex (which has the same problem - I excuse it because it's 14 years old), so I tried creating a profile for Dead Space as well. I bound MB4 and MB5 to act as the End and Home keys and now they work, but no matter what I bind scrolling to, the game refuses to recognise it. I've tried binding the scroll actions to the arrow keys, number pad, everything. NOTHING WORKS. :/
