Where do I find Kagrenac's Planbook and Journals?

I may not be remembering correctly (it's been a while since I did the main quest), but you don't actually need those books. I believe they're laying around when you go to the vampire strongholds.
If you have sunder, keening, and wraithguard, you should be all set to take on Dagoth Ur.

You need them if you're following the (
http://morrowind.ttlg.com/spoiler/mainquest/alternative.shtml) Alternate Main Quest. They're both hidden in the Gate Citadels (Dwarven fortresses) on the slopes of Red Mountain. Where the Ash Vampires hang out. Kagrenac's Journal is in Endusal. Kagrenac's Planbook is in Tureynulal. If you go there, watch out for tough enemies, especially Dagoth Endus and Dagoth Tureyn. They'll make short work of you if you're low level or poorly equipped. Although most of us have the opposite problem. :erg:
On a lighter note, if you a Calm Creature spell on Ash Creatures, you can talk to them. The Ash Vampires all have individual dialog, which is cool. One of them offers you a drink.

This doesn't have much to do with Wreckless' problem, but after getting used to Morrowind's easiness, I find it frustrating when things cause me trouble. I went to Solstheim expecting it to be easy, only to have half my armor crushed like tinfoil. When things start causing me difficulties in Morrowind, I don't like it too much. Which is strange, because difficulty is what I want.
Maybe what I'd want more is something akin to a linear game, but less so. I'd appreciate dungeons with puzzles up to a certain degree, that's for sure. Maybe some more originality in architecture. I hope they fix this in the next installment of the TES series.
*wonders if he should make a new topic and expand more on the thought*
