Just for context.
Stealth? Not really.
Arrows? YUP
Running? YUP
Violence? YUP
Not get back in your cages.

"No rocket launcher... no bio-armor... just skill... the dark... plus a few arrows..."
Sounds about right. Also featuring:
- Thief's trademark industrial beats and nocturnal tones
- decent voice acting
- a stealthy kill
- AI running for help when wounded
- swimming
Not featuring:
- fish-eye overlay
- tooltips all over the screen, including but not limited to: knockout dots, footstep dots and emote dots
- slow-mo
- 3rd person
- hand simulation
- f***ing experience points for headshots
- Doritos Guy
Conclusion: give me this game.

It's true that the trailers for the original Thief games were quite action-packed. Some of the cutscenes, too - wasn't there one where Garrett impaled a Hammerite with a fire arrow?
However, that was an era when the default mode for first person games was Quake & Unreal-style arcade action. Today, the public is quite familiar with the concept of a slower-paced, more exploration-driven first person experience, due to the success of the Elder Scrolls games.

So which is it? Are they supposedly dumbing down Thief and making it a completely linear, stealth free action game to appeal to the ignorant console masses who have wholly rejected Thief, or because EM is stupid and dumb and I hate them so much?

yeah, look at all the slow-paced exploration. I mean, I'm not saying there isn't some merit to a lot of the concerns people are spewing out, but on the other hand, e3.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. My point is that the original Thief games had more of a reason to resort to using misleading trailers and cutscenes than similar games released today.
EM's Thief trailer may or may not be an inaccurate portrayal of the game's content, but I would say that it's not as likely to be inaccurate as the original Thief's trailer was. Obviously, we'll only know for sure when the game is released.

Considering both trailers for New Thief have been a heavier emphasis on stealth and avoiding combat (and corset fetishes, apparently), we can only hope you're right.

E3 trailers always seem to be skewed towards ACTION ACTION ACTION at the expense of much else. Would be what SE and then I were trying to say. Which takes the point of the whole stupid event even existing, but hey. What are you going to do. I'm not paying for a ticket.
On the other hand, the SS2 e3 trailer still looks DOPE:

Brethren and Melan - can you really, honestly, not see my point?
Really?
