Ok, after several testing, I can tell all of you that the FOG issue in Thief 2 is just a matter about DX10 (vista), and DX11 (win 7).
First things first:
My system:
Dual boot partitions.
1- Windows XP SP3
2- Windows 7 RTM 7600 x64its
the rest is a Geforce GTX285 with latest drivers (190,62)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
2Gb ram
etc.
I have Thief2 installed on disk E:\Thief2 (wich is common to both OS)
The thief2 game is patched with DDFIX 1.3.11.
Talking about the fog:.................
When I run the game from Windows XP at the "Precious cargo", or PARTY mission, I get this screen:

And When I run the game from Windows 7, I get this picture:

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/9396/thief2w7.jpgas you can see, in Win7 there's no fog, and I suspect that DX10, and DX11 is the guilt, not Win VISTA or 7. I think that if DDFIX has it's last update going compatible with DX10 or DX11, we will have Thief2 running ok with fog (thinking on that the Newer DX is not the native problem to run fog in older games).
Cheers.

Nor will there ever be at this point, something in vista/w7 has broken fog and nothing mysef or anyone else has tried will fix it.
ps. I would reduce the side of your images,
they are fare too LARGE.

Check out ThiefGen down below, you'll see that some people with ATI cards get fog even in Vista/7. But there are other problems we haven't worked out yet.
nVidia cards I don't think anyone has made fog work in Vista.

I'd like too much that DX10 could work on Win XP to see what happen then.
Definitely Thief die when it's not with it's own ambience. :erm:

Well i have seen DX10 downloads for Xp via google, but as it hacked i dont know how well that would work.
Ive been playing thief for years without fog.
Also you never mentioned what gfx card you had, I'm guessing its nVidia, did you know that Thief work with ATi HD4000 just fine under under vista..

Well SInce I have Dual Boot partitions, I'm gonna play thief from Win XP.
Let's see how Thief Gold Perform with DDFIX.
As a side note for whom have Windows 7 and thief3 doesn't work, I have a workarround on another post.
