Hi, just got this game and been playing for a couple of hours (still just on Level 2). I'm having lots of fun so far. Love the atmosphere and the magic system. I have a couple of questions.
1. I don't get what the 'stealth' key does (shift key). It's meant to put me into stealth mode, I gather, though I see that 'crouching man' icon if I'm in the shadows regardless whether the shift key is depressed or not. Then I thought maybe it's to enable sneaking, but depressing the shift key does not give me any visual or audio clues whatsoever that I'm in any kind of sneak mode (?). What is the strategy for using stealth?
2. According to the manual, there is meant to be colour-coded status icon in the lower left (that supposedly shows your armour and shield and sword etc). All I get is an leggings icon (the very first armour that you obtain) that is now orange. I've got a sword and shield equipped but neither shows up. I don't see a 'green man' icon like that picture in the manual. I assume this is a bug?
3. I'm all patched up to 1.17, with latest video drivers etc. (I have a GF 7600GS). I'm getting occasional crashes, a couple of times when I tried to save, which is a bit worrying. I'm hoping the game doesn't get much more crash-prone than this further along?
4. Not a question, but kinda a comment. I'm still trying to get used to when to use the 'Use' key and when to double-click to use something.
All in all, I'm enjoying the game and see great potential beneath. Thanks in advance for your answers.

1) When you enter stealth mode by pressing the shift key, your footsteps become quieter and you're less visible, depending on your sneak skill. But even if you're not in the sneak mode you will still be hidden if you're in shadows. So it doesn't enable sneak mode, just helps you to become more hidden.
2) Those icons show only when your armor or weapons have decreased durability. They don't show when they are in good condition.
3) Don't know about that, never had any crashes with this game. Save a lot and not just quicksave.
4) As far as I can tell the "use" key is for when you want something used on you, and double-click is when you want something used on a another thing in the world. You're gonna get used to this pretty soon.
And some advice. Don't try to be "jack of all trades" in your first run. Pick a playing style (melee combat, ranged thief or mage) and stick to that.
