Finally pulled the trigger on a 2DS after thinking about it for the past few years, never had one of these things prior. I really like the dual screen functionality, and also the ultra portability - I can literally tuck the thing in my pocket (unlike the Switch). Mostly bought it to play just a few select games - Link Between Worlds, Samus Returns, a few Mario titles, etc. Kind of going back and forth on virtual console stuff, as I was kind of hoping those games would have shown up on the Switch by now. I'm not really interested in paying a monthly fee to Nintendo either.
So, besides the stuff I mentioned above, any "must have" games for the 2DS/3Ds that I should look at? I know there's a huge library out there.

Pokemon? I'm not joking either, if you like that kind of thing, there is a number of good pokemon games for 2/3ds.

Play AM2R rather than Samus Returns. Much more faithful to it's 2D origins.
I was more a fan of the GBA myself.

Hah! Now taste the finale, when carelessness opens the door to a comeback not expected by you! Your lives that I spit on are now but a caricature of a cartoon drawn by a kid who is stupid!
It's a damn crying shame Fawful isn't in more Mario games.
