I am having the BEST time! I created a new character after my failed attempt to use the "join all houses" plug in successfully and started from scratch. Except this time, I'm not doing the main quest and just randomly searching whatever caves and tombs I come across. This is so much better! I will eventually join House Telvanni to check out their quests, but for now my wood elf is enjoying kickin' some butt. :cheeky:

Ah, random adventuring and dungeoneering. That can be fun. ;) I do this quite a lot too, after my character gets into some fighting shape. ;)

Yep, the first two characters I created followed right along with everything they were supposed to do. It was fun, but this is just way better. For example, that snotty B who wants you to escort her to Ghostgate. Did it the first two times. This time, nah. She died quickly. Same thing with the boots of blinding speed. Why on earth should I escort the poor sap when I can get the boots in a much easier fashion. Hehehe

One word of warning: You won't run into many problems if you stick to exploring caves and the like, but I'd advise caution in exploring the Dunmer citadels (those squat castle-like things) or else you can screw up some faction quests. Oh, and ditto that for one Daedric ruin on an island on the west coast... I forget its name.

Forsythe, the one over by Vos? I'll stay wayyy clear of all of those. I'm still hanging about Balmora and Caldera. Haven't ventured too far yet.

More towards the SW villiages, actually; there's a long, skinny N-S island that has 2-3 ruins on it. It's one of them, but I forget which. Btw, the faction quests it can bollux are the Cult and (to a lesser degree) the Morag Tong. If you don't care about either, then nevermind ;)

Right, okay, I know where you're thinking, Forsythe. Haven't gone near there yet. And actually, I started the main quest (just because you get so many goodies that way) and have steered completely clear of other Dwemer ruins...for now. :)
