It's happened to me often enough.
I'd get the intro, the training shuttle scenes and no ending movie. I did nothing to my system, no new installations etc.

Did you use Windows Media Player? That alone can be enough to throw everything.

is windows we're talking about. You can break its codec subsystem with harsh language, and SS2's Indeo codec seems even more fragile than most.
Generally I just wrape shock2.exe in a shell script that reregisters the codec each time it's run.

Well, my installation of Windows hasn't ruined the Indeo codecs for me ever since I ran SS2 in May this year on my new PC.
And I don't think the average user knows how to do...what you described there. :o
