There was no ending after i've killed shodan big head in the center of the room, the game just ends and goes back to the main menu....???Is this a problem with the videos?i mean i thought there was only one video and it was the intro one which works normally....

There is most certainly another cinematic that should play after defeating SHODAN...however I'm not certain why the intro would play, but not the ending. Did you maybe hit a button on accident that skipped it? Two options that I would try: either you could load the most recent save game you have and beat her again (as aggravating as that may sound) and see if the cutscene would play the second time around; OR if you want to just watch it and pretend it played right after you beat it, go into your SS2 folder, go to "cutscenes" and watch Cs3.avi which is the end cutscene. Only other suggestions would be make sure that you have the patch installed and (not that I should have to mention this) that your copy is a legal version. Or perhaps your videos might have somehow been removed from their proper directories...however that may happen...

There should be an ending cinematic.
If you want to see it, you can open Windows explorer, go to your System shock 2 directory (usually c:\games\Sshock2), and open the cutscenes folder.
Open the file cs3.avi. That's the end cutscene. You can also watch the credits or any other cutscene from the game.
EDIT: polytourist97 beat me to it.

i know a good reason why. has to do with the indeo codecs going bad during the course of the gameplay and needing to be reinstalled. so, they're installed and work fine for the beginning of the game where there's like, 4 videos, but by the time someone works their way towards the end (and takes their time... it always takes me at least a week) the codecs need to be reinstalled again.

Tell me. Why would the codecs mess up during gameplay?

I don't think he meant "during gameplay" but "during the course of playing the game". As in over course of the week or so that it takes to finish it.
The easiest way to tell, of course, is to try and play the intro video again now from the main menu.

Wait, so movies are supposed to play throughout the game? So far, i have seen the intro movie, and the one thing on engineering (you can look around, but you do not control motion). I am already on the first deck of the Rickenbacker. Am Are there cenematics that I am missing? (I also saw the whole SHODAN letting me know what's up on Ops Deck, but that's nto really a cutscene).

No, there are only AVI cinematics in the beginning of the game; the training part and the intro. And of course the end cinematic. :)

There's the intro cutscene, several incidental cutscenes during character creation, the ending cutscene, and the credits.
Once you're out of training, there are no cutscenes until the ending; the little interlude with The Many is actually a scripted_sequence, not a prerendered video. So you haven't been missing anything.

I don't think video codecs go bad from thin air one day, you have to "trigger" it.
