So I finished SS1, thanks to System Shock Portable, which by the way was a godsend, many thanks to the author.
Anyway, after having finished I'm disappointed that I never got to hear the greatest and most famous of SHODAN's lines. I'm talking of course of
"
Look at you hacker, a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"
I know I should have, It's listed (
http://www.ttlg.com/ss1/archive/voice.htm) here as a game dialogue. But where in the game does it get triggered?

It doesn't.
It's the 'test voice audio' track in the installation program.
It's never actually used in-game for SS1.

Ok, I did notice it as a test sound for SSP.
Was it a test sound in the original SS (not the fan-made Portable version I mean)?
Well that's ok then.
Cheers,
EDIT: I think you answered this pretty much. Cheers again!

There are about ten unused audio chunks in the System Shock resource files. "Look at you, hacker..." is one of them.
Sender: SHODAN
Subject: Meat
Look at you, Hacker! A pathetic creature of fragile meat and bone. What kind of pathetic creator made such a flimsy being? How dare you challenge a perfect, immortal machine like me? Humans! Born useless and helpless, living whether you deserve to live, dying whether you deserve to die, your only purpose in life to spawn more ridiculous animals like yourself. How can you hope to challenge me?

Yes, it was the test sound in the soundcard setup.
