***If you don't want to know about the non-wish granter endings, stop reading***
Due to diligent use of the quicksave feature, I got to see three endings.
I do kind of like the fact that the Wish Granter one was lame, as it kind of drums in the fact that only a total fool will believe in the idea of a piece of mineral that can grant wishes. This is further drummed home when you get the hologram guy (secret lab ending) telling you it's basically a device to lure people into the control radius of the brain scorcher so they'll do the bidding of the C-Consciousness.
The three endings I saw were:
"Mankind needs to be controlled"
Quickload, do some more running about and shooting of Monolithians
"I'll join the c-consciousness"
Quickload followed by ultra cool running round entire NPP with funny potal type thingies
"End of the Zone"
I love how risky the disparity between endings is. That could put a lot of gamers' nose out of joint if they weren't preapared to explore a little more, or even just honest to god missed the plot devices leading to what can honestly be called the only 'real' ending. This game doesn't patronise the player and genuinely rewards careful playing and exploration.
This game is definitely up there with the greats I'd say. It sits shoulder to shoulder with titles like Deus Ex and System Shock 2 wihtout looking bad by comparison. It does feel very good to finally have an up to date game that can be vieweed in the same high regard.
Definitely worth waiting for.

You got the 'mankind needs to be controlled' ending? Damn, I just got the cliched 'I want to be rich' one.
And I agree, seriously good game.

I've read somewhere that the WG ending depends on things like how much money you have, what you're rating is, who you're allied with, but I can't say with certainty which stats produce which ending (except the money one being linked to how much RU you have).
Don't feel like you've missed out though, the WG endings are probably all more or less ambiguous and unsatisfactory, though I'd need to see the others to know really.
Naturally, I've just begun a second run through. Trying to fit it in around revising for exams is tricky though.

This is one of the things that shows me just how good the game is, and how much I enjoy playing it. It's been a long, long time since I played a game where the first thing I think of as soon as I finish it is to immediately start a new run :)

Yeah totally.
Like I've said before, it feels so good to finally have another game like this. It gets a bit worrying if most of the games you consider 'classics' are over 3 years old. Nice to play something finally which feels completely fresh.

Heheh, heheheheheh, heheh.... ahhhhh.
In words, I'm in the same position as you what with exams and everything, except I'm finding it difficult to find time to revise what with everything else there is to do to do.

I agree, the only other game I remember playing through a second time as soon as I'd finished is System Shock.

I just finished STALKER and did both C-Consciousness endings. I wanted to see the Wish Granter ones, so I poked around a bit. This link has all the ending movies except "I want to be immortal":

I was kind of disappointed that none of the endings would let you run around the zone after you've beaten the game. Would have been nice to kill stupid bandits with my nice new guns and such.
edit: so if there is a way, and i'm dumb, someone tell me.

Eh, I was really disappointed by the endings... all 7 of them. Made a thread about it a while ago, search if interested.

The possibility should be added with next patch.

Although, as I said before, it would only make sense if one would be able to continue after one of the endings. The other six shouldn't allow one to continue.
